Fuzhou, 25 Oct (Xinhua) -- Fuzhou Customs disclosed on 25 October that the Fuzhou Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau recently cracked a case of smuggling frozen durian, with a case value of about 800 million yuan.

According to reports, the Fuzhou Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau dispatched 25 police personnel, divided into 5 action groups, to carry out a unified network collection operation in Fuqing, Fuzhou, where a food company smuggled frozen durian cases were uniformly collected, a total of 5 people involved in the case were arrested, about 1,300 tons of smuggled frozen durian (worth about 70 million yuan) were seized at the scene, and a batch of documents and electronic evidence involved in the case were seized.

Fuzhou Customs revealed that after preliminary investigation, the value of the case is about 800 million yuan.

After investigation, since 2014, a food company in Fuqing City has purchased durian through its overseas company set up in Thailand, and initially processed it into frozen durian meat, smuggled it into the country at an understatement price, and then processed into durian freeze-dried products for sale in China for profit.
