Detroit Becomes Human developer Quantic Dream has announced the creation of a new game studio in Montreal, Canada, led by former Eidos Montreal chief Stephane D'Astous, who joined Ubisoft in 2003 and later led the development of a new game for Breakout. Yohan Cazaus, former chief designer of Assassin's Creed, will also join Quantic Dream as game director for the new project, having previously worked at Ubisoft for 14 years and working on Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Origins, and Temple of Heroes.

In an official statement, D'Astous mentioned that Quantic Dream's Paris team will work with the Montreal team to develop the same project instead of making different games separately, and that the Montreal studio will be responsible for developing the game mechanics and gameplay. The official mentioned that it will expand the new development team to 50 people by the end of the year, and the new project is an AAA-level work that is expected to land on next-generation consoles and PCs.
