Agatha Christie is a famous British female detective novelist, one of the three masters of speculative literature, known as the queen of speculative fiction. Her books have also been translated into more than 100 languages worldwide and sold more than 2 billion copies. But who would have thought that in her youth, Agatha longed most to be a singer.
Influenced by her mother, at the age of 16, Agatha went to Paris to study vocal music. Her voice is beautiful, she studies hard, and was once evaluated by her teachers as a promising student with great musical prospects. Agatha also dreamed of being able to go down the road of singing and become a musician who stood on the stage to receive everyone's congratulations. However, a performance mistake broke Agatha's dream of being a musician. That time, during the performance, Agatha looked at the crowd of black pressure under the stage, and somehow her heart panicked, and her brain went blank. Agatha stood on the stage for a long time, someone below booed, listening to the laughter in the audience, Agatha was even more flustered, she did not know how to deal with it, and she did not know how she got off the stage.
For a long time after that, Agatha was not able to get out of the shadows of that time. She has a deep sense of fear of the stage, as soon as she stands on the stage, her legs are weak, and the standard of performance is greatly reduced. In the words of the teacher, she was suffering from acting phobia. Devastated, Agatha shut herself off, locked herself in her room every day to read, and wrote down her thoughts when she was upset. Agatha finds herself able to relax easily in the text, especially when reading detective novels, and she forgets herself and fantasizes about herself as the protagonist of the book. After a period of self-observation and reflection, she found that for herself, being a singer may be a mistake, and it should be more suitable for her to transcribe novels and sing with a pen.
With a purpose, Agatha's life was rejuvenated.
In 1909, at the age of 20, with the encouragement of her mother, Agatha completed her first novel study, The Snow-Covered Desert, which was published under the enthusiastic guidance of her neighbor, the novelist Eden Fiertz. The success of writing novels for the first time made Agatha even more confident in writing, and she decided to start writing her favorite detective novels.
However, for Agatha to write a detective novel, everyone is not optimistic. Eden gently told Agatha to write something that suited her, and Agatha's sister was very direct in saying that it was whimsical for girls to write good detective novels. Fortunately, her mother still supported her as always, and the mother said: "Agatha, believe in yourself!" ”
With the support of her mother, Agatha began to write detective novels. After five years, in her spare time, Agatha finally completed her first detective novel, The Mysterious Case of Stiles. However, The Mysterious Case of Stiles did not become a bestseller as Agatha had dreamed, and the manuscript went through multiple rejections and revisions before it was serialized in Time magazine two years later, barely getting paid £25. Fortunately, in 1920, The Mysterious Case of Stiles was officially published. Agatha Christie, a name that would become world-famous, began to rise in the British literary scene.
The success of Stiles's Mysterious Case saw the light of day for Agatha, who began to devote herself to the writing of detective novels. He has written a series of excellent works such as "The Man in Brown", "Roger's Doubt", "The Secret on the Blue Express" and so on. In 1958, at the age of 68, Agatha became president of the Detective Club and was re-elected for life.
Although Agatha's early dream was to be a musician, she eventually became the queen of detective fiction, once keen to sing with her throat and finally with a pen. Her life is perfectly interpreted, but it is not something that everyone can do.
