Thirty-Six Words is a 1984 color animated film released in Chinese mainland. Produced by Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio and written by Ada. It tells the story of a father who taught his son to read and explained the origin of Chinese characters by explaining hieroglyphs.

The film won the Educational Film Award at the 7th Zagreb International Animation Film Festival in Yugoslavia, and has since been broadcast simultaneously on more than 2,000 television stations at all levels throughout the country, which has had a great impact.
