Porsche Taycan vs Audi RS E-Tron GT: Big duel with electric car in the same door

Porsche is proud of the Taycan, arguably the best electric car ever made in Germany. The Audi RS E-Tron GT is located on the same platform. Which car is faster, more economical, has the fastest charging and the best range?

The Porsche Taycan and Audi RS E-Tron GT both have two motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle. Differs only in power: the RS E-Tron GT has 598 hp (supercharged: 646 hp), the Taycan is more powerful, at 625 hp (boost: 680 hp). Depending on our measuring equipment, this results in slightly faster sprint times: Porsche takes 3.1 seconds for a hundred sprints, audis 3.2 seconds.

Porsche Taycan: 0-200 km/h in 10.5 seconds

The way to release the full 800 Nm of torque on all wheels is an experience for both cars. Even at 200 km/h, the extension of the electric heavyweight (more than 2.3 tons) is certainly not over. Porsche reached this magical value in 10.2 seconds, and Audi followed up after 0.3 seconds. You can continue for a while if you wish. The Audi RS E-Tron GT has a top speed of 250 km/h and a Porsche top speed of 260 km/h.

Does Audi or Porsche have the longest range?

You'd expect test consumption to rise to a very high level on all of our roller coaster rides, but that's not bad. After testing kilometres on standardized routes inside and outside the built-up area, the Audi RS E-Tron was slightly more energy efficient, consuming 21.4 kWh per 100 kilometres. This equates to a range of 391 km. Porsche must be charged after 361 km because it consumes more: 23.2 kWh / 100 km.

Ranges of 100, 130 and 160 km/h

If you are driving "normally" on the highway at 100 km/h, Audi can travel 416 km and Porsche can travel 370 km. If you increase the speed to 130 km/h, Audi will take you 343 km and Porsche will take you 312 km. Come on, because the highway is so much fun: we'll also report what you have left at a constant speed of 160 km/h. That's not bad: Audi 285 km, Porsche 272 km.

Porsche Taycan and Audi RS E-Tron fast charging

When you stand next to the fast charger, the batteries of Porsche and Audi are fully charged and have a maximum power of 270 kW. Then you have to find the right charging station. With 50 kWh, 28 minutes of charging time should be enough to travel an additional 100 kilometers, while with 270 kWh, 5 minutes of charging is enough. Please note: This is only possible under optimal conditions, when the battery is at the right temperature. It is useful to stop charging in the navigation system, and then battery management automatically ensures an optimal battery temperature between 30 and 35 degrees.

Audi Navigation comes standard with a digital charge manager, which has better predictive power than Nostradamus. With Porsche, you will need to pay an additional fee for this. To reach a destination 350 km away, it is recommended to stay in a 350 kWh charger from Ionity for 8 minutes. This was surprisingly correct: when we arrived at the charging station, the battery was still 16%. After 8 minutes of charging, the battery level has risen to 40%. It is the system that proposes it.

When driving over long distances, the key is not to charge more than it takes to achieve your goals. This saves a lot of time and is good for battery life. Ideally, it is always filled with 20% to 80%.
