Shamima Begum, a former British "Islamic State" (IS) bride, sparked a wide debate in 2019 after she expressed her desire to return to the UK. Becum is currently being held in Syria and recently asked the British side again through the British media for permission to return to the UK.

According to the Satellite News Agency quoted the "Daily Mail" on the 15th, Becum, who is currently detained in a concentration camp in Syria, once again asked for permission to return to the United Kingdom. In a new documentary filmed inside the camp, the 21-year-old said: "I don't think I'm a terrorist. I guess I'm just a stupid kid who made a mistake. Earlier, after the revocation of British citizenship, Beguim was barred from entering the country by the British side, and the court also prevented her from returning to the UK on the grounds of security concerns. Beckum said she doesn't need to continue her thought education herself, but she can help others with ideological transformation. Referring to her recent "makeover," she swapped out a dress she wore into jeans and a hoodie, saying the "stuff was like a lifesaver."

Documentary filmmaker Andrew Drury has been defending Beguim's case since the interview with Beckum, saying he should be allowed to return to Britain for trial. Drury recalls saying goodbye to her (Beguim) and I don't know what rules to follow because she's a terrorist. I went and shook hands with her and she started crying and said to me 'can I hug a little'. Drury added that he thought the "vulnerable 21-year-old" had simply made "childish mistakes."

According to reports, 21-year-old Beckum left the UK in 2015 with two female classmates to join IS in Syria. Just three weeks after her arrival, she married Yago Riedijk, an English-speaking Dutch terrorist aged about 20-25.
