In the capital of every country in Europe, there is almost a church that represents the whole city, it is so majestic and so exquisite that it is impressive, in Lisbon, we are talking about the Church of the Virgin Mary. The church is actually connected to the famous Jerónimo Monastery, and you will be amazed by its ingenuity by entering the monastery through a small inconspicuous door, the square courtyard of this Manuel-style building adopts a symmetrical pattern, two colonnades and arches, and the lower height and low, and the proportions are harmonious. Because of the use of a single light-colored stone pillar, it is not as brilliant as those cathedrals in Europe, its beauty is reflected in the softness and delicacy composed of various curves and intricate patterns, such a unique ornate, but also in line with the Portuguese low-key character. Relative to the monastery, the church is the soul core of it, it integrates the exquisitely carved partial depiction into its solemn and magnificent appearance, the intricate column vault supports the entire building like an umbrella bone, and when the warm sunlight shines into the interior of the church through the colorful flower windows, the sacredness of faith is enough to dispel the haze in the heart. Construction began in 1501 and took nearly a century to complete, where the famous Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama and the poet Camos were buried. In the terrible earthquake of 1755, the whole city of Lisbon was almost burned, and Portugal's national strength was severely damaged, and it has been devastated ever since. This church and monastery survived, and as in the distant Age of Discovery, it became an eternal legend of Lisbon.
