The idiom "full of wind and rain" is very familiar to everyone, describing things everywhere and talking about it everywhere (mostly referring to bad things). As everyone knows, it originally only referred to the scene of autumn, and there is even a good story about its history.

During the Northern Song Dynasty, there was such a pair of similar friends: one was Xie Yi of Linchuan, Jiangxi (present-day Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province), who had no words; the other was Pan Dalin of Huangzhou, Hubei (present-day Huanggang City, Hubei Province). Although their families were relatively poor, they were very talented and wrote good poetry, which was quite prestigious in the poetry circle at that time. Although the two people lived far apart, they were in agreement, often fishing and geese, singing and singing harmony to each other in letters, and exchanging poetry together.

Once, when he was approaching the Chongyang Festival, Xie Yi thought of Pan DaLin, so he wrote a letter of greeting and asked him if he had written any new poems recently, which could make him feast his eyes and see it first. For the condolences of his friend, Pan Da Lin was very grateful, and immediately wrote a reply, in which he wrote: "Recently, autumn is high and refreshing, the scenery is pleasant, and it is very capable of triggering Yaxing, who composes poetry, but what is hateful is that there are often vulgar and despicable things that disturb the mood and corrupt the poetry. Immediately afterward, Pan Da Lin told such a practical story: "Yesterday I was lying in bed, listening to the wind and waves outside the window, the rain hitting the autumn forest, and suddenly feeling the poetry stirring, I got up in a hurry, the ink was full of ink, and wrote a poem on the white wall that 'the city is full of wind and rain and close to the sun'. Who knows, just after writing this sentence, an official who collected the rent for the land suddenly broke in, and the poetry of the blossom was immediately dispelled. Therefore, it is only time to send this poem to you. ”

After Xie Yi read Pan Dalin's "The Wind and Rain in the City Near the Heavy Sun", he couldn't help but give a thumbs up and say in a loud voice, "Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!" Next, he actually used "full of wind and rain near Chongyang" as the first sentence, and continued to become the poem "Nine Days of Chibi Nostalgia for the Dead": "The wind and rain in the city are close to Chongyang, and the helpless yellow flowers are annoyed." The snow waves turn over the sky and make people look west to remember Pan Lang. Here, Xie Yi first wrote the scenery to set off the artistic conception, and then poured out the chongyang festival's longing for his friends, which was particularly interesting and left a good story in the poetry world.

The poem "Full of wind and rain is close to Chongyang" accurately and vividly depicts the scene of autumn wind and rain and the scenery changing color, but somehow, it slowly evolved into the pejorative idiom of "full of wind and rain", which has been used to this day.

Where did the "18" go?

My son always likes to ask questions when things happen, and even my father, who is known as "asking can't fall", is often "asked" by him.

That year, in order to implement the next step of the plan to choose a house and buy a house, our family of three deliberately went to the homes of relatives and friends living in high-rise buildings to make a trip.

When taking the elevator up and down the stairs, we found that when we went up the 16th floor, it was either "17A, 17B, 19..." or "17, 19A, 19B..." and we couldn't see the word "18" at all. The son couldn't help but ask, "Where did the '18' go?" ”

When I told him that this was because people avoided "eighteen levels of hell" and deliberately rewrote "18" to "17B" or "19A", I only heard him "ah" and then frowned and asked: "Hell should be underground, is it also fashionable to run into the air?" For a moment, I was speechless. As for the "seven up and eight down" problems involved in buying a house, I don't even dare to mention it at all.
