Kunming, July 15 (Xinhua) -- On the evening of the 15th, the national epic dance drama "Ashima" was officially performed at the Yunnan Provincial Song and Dance Theater, showing the characteristics of Yunnan national culture and carrying forward the national spirit with a new look and colorful folk dances of various branches of the Yi nationality.
Adapted from the national intangible cultural heritage and the Yi Sani folk ancient narrative poem "Ashima", this dance drama caused a sensation after its performance in 1991, and successively won many awards such as the Third Wenhua Award of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the "Five One Project Award" of the Central Propaganda Department, which injected new vitality into the creation and development of national dance dramas at that time.

In 2020, the General Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China issued the notice of the "Work Plan for Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China stage art creation project", and the large-scale national dance drama "Ashima" was selected as a "hundred years of traditional fine art rearrangement plan". Yunnan Performing Arts Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yunnan Cultural Investment Group, actively organized the original creative team and creative performance team to strictly control the rehearsal work and let the classic plays of 30 years ago reappear on the stage.
"Today, 30 years later, the dance drama "Ashima" organized Zhao Huihe, Zhou Peiwu, Tao Chun, Min Guangsen, Wanli and other main creators to gather again, and formed a core team to shoulder the heavy responsibility of creation." Tao Chun, chairman of Yunnan Performing Arts Co., Ltd., said that the rearrangement of "Ashima" is not simply copied and pasted, and the main creative team has carried out deeper innovation and improvement in the infrastructure of the original repertoire, adhering to the people-centered creative orientation, condensing China's strength, and is a literary and artistic masterpiece with Chinese spirit, Yunnan style and national characteristics.
"Yunnan is a multi-ethnic province, and the re-rehearsed "Ashima" is performed by actors from 26 ethnic groups in Yunnan. Standing at the height of promoting national culture, dance drama inherits, draws on and creates a new form of dance drama rich in national personality with an open spirit, and integrates the main Yi folk dances popular in Yun, Gui and Sichuan into the dance drama. Tao Chun said.
Zhou Peiwu, a national first-class choreographer of the Yunnan Provincial Song and Dance Theater, introduced that the dance drama "Ashima" follows the original plate structure without scenes, making the storyline of the dance drama continuous and orderly. The love contradictions and dramatic conflicts of Ashima, Ahei and Azhi are completed in 7 different color dance sections such as black, green, gray, red, gold, white and blue, which depict the inner world of the characters in detail.
In the next step, the dance drama "Ashima" will participate in the 2021 Yunnan Provincial Excellent Repertoire Exhibition and Performance, further promoting and guiding the inheritance and development of Yunnan national culture and art. (End)
