World Book Day | The taste of life, reading between books to nourish the heart, changing the way to meet the world to see the book moving, reading from the moment to grasp the book in the heart, waiting for the integration of life

April 23 is World Book Day,

Today, let's start with a good book, a cup of hot tea,

Start a peaceful life.

"Read the book down, then go out and live in vain." Recently, the acknowledgment part of the graduation thesis of Huang Guoping, a doctor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has aroused heated discussion on the whole network.

This moving PhD thesis was written four years ago, and now it's gotten to people this way. Only this time, it is not the review of the tutor, but the reader to move and think.

"The four walls of the house, writing homework or reading under the kerosene lamp are the happiest things." When I saw this passage, my heart was really full of emotions. Because we usually say that reading books gives people knowledge and strength, this seems to be the highest realm.

In fact, it is not true, reading can also make us feel happy and happy. I divide reading now into "useful" reading and "useless" reading.

The so-called useful reading is to get a diploma, in order to improve one's reading in the social profession. This kind of reading is of course important.

But a better state than this is "useless" reading, that is, reading for life, for growth, it may not directly give you a diploma, give you professional skills, but it can make your mind more vast.

There is a story about a disciple who asked his master how much a bowl of rice was worth? The master said that this is too difficult to say, depending on whose hands it is. If in the hands of a housewife, she adds some water to steam, and a bowl of rice comes out in half an hour, it is worth a dollar.

If in the hands of a small businessman with a little brain, he soaked the rice well, divided it into four or five piles, and wrapped it in rice dumpling leaves to make rice dumplings, which was the value of four or five yuan. If it were to go into the hands of a more intelligent merchant, fermenting it properly, heating it, and brewing it with great care, a bottle of wine might be worth one or two dozen dollars. So how much a bowl of rice is worth, it varies from person to person.

Assuming that each of our lives is a bowl of rice, who can say how much it is worth? But there is a law here: the shorter the processing time, the less effort it takes, and the closer it is to its original form, the lower its value.

Who can afford to make themselves into a bottle of wine? Wine is the furthest away from the form of rice, the longest brewing time, and the elements in the middle that may lead to failure are the most, do we dare to experiment in this way?

So we say, read books to nourish the heart. Life is a pot of boiling water, it is always tormenting you, the question is what kind of texture you have to accept the suffering, and eventually see different results.

Reading is to nourish yourself. It may be a long process, but it can turn us from a primitive, simple bowl of rice into a pot of wine, and it changes the way we see the world and the way we meet it.

Now many people are accustomed to the fast, convenient and fragmented information brought by mobile phones, but it is difficult to open a page of books to read carefully, which has really become Bai Juyi's poem "there are no books on the shelf, and the eyes cannot be read."

Legend has it that a young king wanted to govern his kingdom and become the wisest king in the world, so he summoned all the magi in the country. He commanded the Magi to collect all the intellectual wisdom of the world and compile them into a book for him to read. The Magi were ordered to go.

Thirty years later, the Magi returned with a caravan of camels carrying five thousand books. They told the king that the five thousand books contained all the wisdom and wisdom of the world. However, the king, who was busy with state affairs, did not have time to read so many books, and he ordered the Magi to go back and select them.

Fifteen years later, the Magi returned, and this time there were only five hundred books on the camel's back. They prayed to the king that after reading these five hundred books, they would know the wisdom of the world. However, five hundred copies was still too much, and they were ordered to make a selection.

After another ten years, the Magi returned with fifty books. But the king was so old that he could not read even fifty books. So he ordered them to make another selection, to make a book that contained the essence of human wisdom, so that he could finally learn what he desperately needed. The Magi were ordered to go.

After another five years, the returning Magi themselves became old men. The book containing the essence of human wisdom was delivered to the king by the Magi, but by this time the king was already dying, and it was too late to read even a book.

In fact, the most important thing about reading is not how much knowledge or how much memory we retain, but how much we open the book, feel its words and phrases, and wait for it to integrate with our lives as the experience increases and the precipitation of time.

keep the book in your heart, waiting for the integration of life

Many people have asked me what secrets I have about reading, but in fact there is only one secret, that is, I have the kung fu of regurgitation. I call the process of reading myself "old cows eat grass." When you are young or free, swallow all the books you know and don't understand.

When you encounter ups and downs in the process of growing up and really think of using it, you will tune it out. After chewing in this way, a part of the nutrients of the book can be integrated into my life.
