28 years, how many 28 years can a person's life have? Tan Dafan's 28 years of youth were all poured on this dam at an altitude of 1729 meters.
Located in the lower reaches of Shiligou in Yong'an Village, Xinglong Town, Chongqing, the Forty-Two Dam Reservoir is an important water conservancy facility in Jianshi County and an important backup water source in Jianshi District, with an altitude of 1729 meters above sea level and a total storage capacity of 11.36 million square meters. At present, its main functions are power generation, flood control, irrigation and county water supply. Protecting the environment in the reservoir area and doing a good job in dispatching the flood season is directly related to the safety of the lives and property of the downstream masses.
In August 1993, after retiring from the army, Tan Dafan was assigned to the Jianshi Electric Power Company, and soon after reporting, he was sent by the unit to the most remote forty-two dam reservoirs as a reservoir management staff.
"When I first arrived at the Forty-Two Dam, I was completely dumbfounded, thinking of the hardships of the conditions, but I didn't expect it to be so difficult" Recalling the feeling of arriving at the Forty-Two Dam when he was 25 years old, Tan Dafan seemed to have a vivid memory of it: "At that time, I sat in a car for more than an hour, and climbed the mountain for more than an hour to get to the Forty-Two Dam Custody Center, and the outer walls of the house were painted with mud."
There is no traffic road, there is no one, there is no food and living in the post, there is no entertainment facility. In that era when there was no mobile phone, the Forty-Two Dam Reservoir was isolated from the world, and for the young Tan Dafan, it was even more lonely and difficult.
Taking off the uniform or the soldiers is nothing more than changing to a battlefield to defend the country. Tan Dafan, who came from the army, quickly adjusted his mentality and threw himself into a new work.
In order to ensure the safe operation of the reservoir and excellent water quality, daily inspection of the dam, cleaning up the garbage on the edge of the reservoir, and dissuading people who fish and swim are the most basic tasks of Tan Dafan and his colleagues. It takes 1 hour to patrol a circle along the dam, about 4 kilometers back and forth, and two trips in the morning and evening during the flood season. In the past 28 years, Tan Dafan has walked more than 20,000 kilometers back and forth along this sheep intestine trail, which is equivalent to more than 40 trips from the beginning of construction to Wuhan.
The colleagues who inspected with Tan Dafan changed one after another, and only he still insisted on sticking to the depths of this mountain, silently being the "dam keeper" on the mountain, protecting the peace of one side and guarding the turquoise of a library.
