Bucharest, 20 Jan (Xinhua) -- Romanian Sports Minister Eduard Novak said on 20 January that he hoped that his own athletes would achieve good results at the Beijing Winter Olympics, and that he would be with the athletes and bring them good luck.

Novak made this statement on the same day after the Royo Olympic Committee announced the list of delegations for the Beijing Winter Olympics. He posted on social media congratulating his own athletes who were shortlisted for the Beijing Winter Olympics and calling them "heroes." Novak said The Rohrer athletes, lacking the proper infrastructure, prepared for the race with firm confidence and perseverance and achieved results that exceeded expectations.

Novak, who began his sports career in speed skating, said: "There is no doubt that we will invest in winter sports infrastructure and build several strong training and training centers in the future." He thanked the athletes and coaches for their efforts: "I will be with them, wish them success and good luck."

Earlier in the day, the Committee announced the list of delegations to the Beijing Winter Olympics, including 22 athletes who will participate in bobsleigh, bobsleigh, steel frame bobsleigh, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon and speed skating.

Novak became minister of sport in December 2020. After losing his right foot in a car accident in 1996, he switched from speed skating to cycling. Novak won the silver medal in track cycling at last year's Tokyo Paralympic Games.
