These students rebelled against a system that allowed upperclassmen to manage and train younger students—using corporal punishment to punish students who violated the school's mysterious and authoritarian rules. Mick was subjected to corporal punishment for his "bad attitude", and the scene was heart-wrenching, completely shattering his naïve idea of what he could endure violence.
