From January 20 to 21, Yu Maokun, director of the Wetland Office of the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau, led relevant experts to huize black-necked crane national nature reserve to conduct special research and guidance on the work related to the proposed declaration of internationally important wetlands in Huize Nature Reserve. Xiao Liangkai, director of the Huize Crane Management Bureau, accompanied the investigation and introduced the relevant situation.

The research expert group was composed of Professor Tian Kun of Southwest Forestry University, Professor Kong Dejun of Kunming College, and Li Lingfen, engineer of the Wetland Office of the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau.

On the 20th, the expert group successively investigated and surveyed the bridge area and the Changhaizi area. In the bridge area, the expert group inspected many points such as Guanhe Causeway, Bird Island, Dideka, Cape of Good Hope, and Lijiawan Night Habitat along the crane protection scientific expedition route. In the Changhaizi area, the expert group inspected the sea tail, sea head and other points.

On the 21st, the expert group held a research symposium. The expert group believes that the Huize Protected Area already has the basic conditions for declaring wetlands of international importance, and recommends that the Huize Protected Area be declared as soon as possible. At the meeting, Zhang Tingmei, deputy director of the Huize Crane Management Bureau, reported on the progress of relevant work, and Deputy Director Zhou Chaoxiang attended the meeting.

At present, there are 64 wetlands of international importance in China, of which only 4 are in Yunnan, and there are no wetlands of international importance in Qujing City. If the Huize Protected Area is successfully declared, it will become the first internationally important wetland in Qujing City.
