Ancient Residence of Western Guangdong (Maoming) - Former Residence of Deng Longguang in Zhensheng (Yunmen Ancestral Hall)

Zhensheng Deng Longguang Former Residence (Yunmen Ancestral Hall), located in Baisha Maolang Village, Zhensheng Town, Maonan District, Maoming City, was originally built by the Deng Longguang brothers, commander of the Kuomintang 35th Group Army, to honor his grandfather Deng Yunmen, which was built in 1935 and completed in the spring of 1936.

On August 21, 1986, Yunmen Ancestral Hall was approved by the Maonan District People's Government as a county(district) level cultural relics protection unit (Maonan Fu [1986] No. 13). The ancestral hall is north to south, backed by the Meijiang River, facing Pengcun Lake, the water is dark and bright, and the scenery is beautiful. The entire ancestral hall, including the outbuildings within the wall, orchards, flower beds, artificial lakes, stables, etc., covers a total area of more than 5,600 square meters, of which the main building area is 2,200 square meters.

The main part of the Yunmen Ancestral Hall is a novel design and elegant shape, which is a three-door courtyard-style building that combines ancient and modern architectural styles. The temple is three rooms wide, and the three characters of "Yunmen Ancestral Hall" are stacked on the main lintel, the penmanship is majestic and vigorous, and the door side is coupleted with a pair: "The cloud is a dragon, and the door is high and ma Rong". These words were eradicated in the early days of liberation. The rear column of seven rooms is a two-story building with reinforced concrete structure, called "Lu Di Lou".

There is a two-story turret on the east and west sides of the building. The east-west gallery house and the bungalows built of brick and wood in front of it are connected to each other and are built adjacent to the east and west sides of the Lu Pavilion. The Lu Pavilion is the center of the building, towering above the East-West Gallery House and the Front Seat. The three-sided tile house in the courtyard is on a horizontal line with the terrace. In the center of the courtyard, there is a two-story octagonal pavilion, and there is a flying bridge between the upper floor of the pavilion and the main hall of the Lu building, connecting the pavilion and the building into one. The pavilion biwa cornice, like a green umbrella, opens above the ancestral hall, which is particularly eye-catching and spectacular. The east and west gallery houses and the front tile eaves are connected to each other, and communicate with the skybridge and the pavilion, forming an inverted "concave" cloister. Climbing the pavilion, the lake and mountains near and far, as far as the eye can see.

The ancestral hall was designed and constructed by local architect Deng Guiji, recruiting local mud water craftsmen and migrant workers, and Deng Xiuchuan, the son of Deng Yunmen, was responsible for general supervision, taking care of materials, and coordinating all matters externally. The surrounding outer wall of the Yunmen Ancestral Hall, from the bottom of the foundation to the height of the bottom of the window, is reinforced with 6 red bricks side by side, and from the bottom of the window to the roof, it is made of 4 red bricks side by side, which shows that the entire ancestral hall is well-made, the stability and solidity of the structure are unquestionable, and all the beams above the "LuZhuo Building" have been processed with paint treatment, and the color is still well preserved.
