Looking back on the past year, a number of outstanding film and television works disseminated to the outside world came into being, showing the power of thought with the light of images, explaining Chinese practice with Chinese theory, sublimating Chinese theory with Chinese practice, planning a layout and meticulous cultivation on the grand picture of Chinese stories, and completing a series of useful attempts to lead the face with points.

For the first time, the adventure reality show "The Journey of the Brave" positively displayed the image of the Red Army and the historical facts of the Long March in the mainstream Western media

Compared with traditional culture and contemporary history, the history of China's revolutionary struggle since modern times has always been one of the difficulties in external dissemination. After the founding of the Communist Party of China, it led the people to fight with blood and perseverance, and created great achievements in the new-democratic revolution. Regrettably, however, foreign propaganda films reflecting this magnificent history have been lost. How to make foreign young people interested in the history of the Chinese revolution and identify with "the Ability of the Communist Party of China, the Practice of Marxism, and the Good work of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" needs to be further solved.

As the first adventure reality show with the theme of red culture, "The Journey of the Brave" takes the "simulated reproduction" of historical scenes and the "immersive experience" of contemporary narrative as the entry point, and takes the wild survival adventure familiar to foreign audiences as the program form, embeds and presents the revolutionary historical facts in a cross-cultural context, and becomes a successful practice of the external dissemination of red culture. The film focuses on several major historical events, and silently guides foreign audiences to re-understand the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army led by the Communist Party of China, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, the Red Women's Army and other "armies that rewrite human history".

The animated short film "Relay" deepens the understanding of Chinese history by foreign audiences with the core of the story of loving the homeland

How to open up historical stages and connect tradition and modernity in external communication? In-depth explanation of the relationship between home and country has become a key entry point and breakthrough point. The English-language animated short film "Relay" tells a family story spanning centuries: Qin Jisheng, Liao Qinping, Lü Tao , and their grandchildren, who also graduated from the Medical College of Peking University, have dedicated their lives to the cause of people's health. In 1958, Qin Jisheng supported the frontier with full enthusiasm, and in more than 30 years of zhibian career, he turned the kangtou of countless farmers and herdsmen into an operating table to protect the safety of mothers and babies; in 1982, Qin Jisheng's daughter Liao Qinping, as the first college graduate after resuming the college entrance examination, resolutely made up her mind to overcome gynecological tumors; in 2017, Liao Qinping's daughter Lü Tao followed the footsteps of her grandmother and mother and took the initiative to ask Miao to go to Tibet for point-to-point support... From the capital to the frontier, from tradition to modernity, from grandmother to granddaughter, from family to country and people, in the animated short film of only 7 minutes, the footsteps of the struggle of three generations of a family are in line with the self-reliance and indignation in the socialist revolution and construction period, the emancipation of the mind and forge ahead in the new period of reform, opening up, and socialist modernization, the self-confidence, self-improvement and innovation after socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era, and the final unification of the CPC for the happiness of the people in different historical periods. The original mission of seeking rejuvenation for the nation is unified in the people's yearning for a better life step by step from a dream to a reality.

Video open class "Reading China · The TED Speech uses a scholarly discourse system to counter the misunderstanding and distortion of China's political system by Western public opinion

In recent years, the United States and the West have frequently carried out irresponsible public opinion attacks and smears against China. In this context, the TED talk program with the theme of "Understanding China" came into being and was broadcast on the TED official website and YouTube TEDx channel. The speakers confronted all kinds of Western fallacies, profoundly analyzed the substantive connotation of democratic politics from the academic level, and pointed out that the dogmatic thinking of ignoring the history and culture of various countries and talking about democracy was shallow and ignorant. Canadian political scientist Bell Tanning put forward the concept of "meritocracy", believing that China has formed a "meritocracy" since ancient times, which is efficient and stable, and has achieved modernization and upgrading under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the past hundred years. Zheng Yongnian, a professor at the University of Chinese of Hong Kong, pointed out that "the concepts of democracy and autocracy, centralization and decentralization are imported from the West, and are conceptual theories formed by Westerners according to their own practice", and China and other countries in the world must define and promote democracy according to their own civilization, culture, national conditions and social conditions, rather than mechanically blindly following Western definitions. The above-mentioned political discussion programs hit the nail on the head and conveyed China's voice to the root of the word -- the key to whether a country is democratic or not is whether it is truly the people's mastery.

The Sino-foreign co-production documentary "Above Chai Rice Oil and Salt" objectively and vividly interprets the new road of Chinese-style modernization and the new form of human civilization

In the past hundred years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese nation has been independent, self-reliant, open and inclusive, and finally stepped out of the new road of Chinese-style modernization and created a new form of human civilization. Directed by British director Ke Wensi, a two-time Oscar winner who has filmed footprints in more than 80 countries and regions around the world, the Sino-foreign co-production documentary "Above Chai Rice Oil and Salt" focuses on the social picture of poverty alleviation and innovation and entrepreneurship in China, leading the audience to deeply understand the cultural genes and spiritual temperament of Chinese hard-working, perseverance and determination, and optimism, and vividly showing the natural conditions and humanistic foundation of the Chinese-style modernization road and the new form of human civilization. At the beginning of the work, the youth party branch secretary of a small mountain village in Yunnan is struggling to persuade poor households to move away from their homesteads on the hillside. Under the presentation of the image, the complex terrain and frequent natural disasters are clear at a glance, so that foreign audiences can identify with the reasons for poverty alleviation in different places. The film also vividly records the employment placement and social security of villagers after relocation, so that the traditional Chinese cultural concept of "teaching people to fish is better than teaching people to fish" jumps on the paper, and profoundly reflects the civilized background of the Chinese-style modernization road.

Compared with words and language, image symbols have a more distinct communication advantage, and their reductive power to story details and expressiveness to the connotation of civilization are conducive to forming "video notes" of theoretical discourse and "three-dimensional archives" of historical narratives. The reason why the above film and television works can stand out is that they focus on showing the Chinese story and the ideological and spiritual power behind it. Foreign director Ke Wensi compares the Chinese story of hundreds of millions of people to "a gift from heaven to me to continue to gain inspiration".
