On January 20, 2021, the snooker single-time limited time tournament kicked off at Leicester Morningside Arena. A total of 11 Chinese players played on the first matchday, with Cao Yupeng, Liang Wenbo, Gao Yang, Lei Peifan and Fan Zhengyi winning. The three TOP16 players who appeared on the day – Murphy, Selby and Williams – all advanced. Taylor broke the 100, and Evans still failed to win his first career win.
A total of 11 Chinese players appeared on the day, five of whom won. Cao Yupeng won the Chinese derby with Pang Junxu, and Liang Wenbo and Gao Yang defeated each other. Ronin lost 25-53 to 15-year-old England hope star Moody; Lu Haotian lost to Dean Young, who scored a 60-pointer, who finally won his first victory of his career in his 11th game of the season.
Fan Zhengyi hit 50+, and scored 100 points in three starts, eliminating Evans. The latter missed the best chance to win the first career win, with a record of 0 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses this season, and together with Wu Anyi (0 wins, 5 losses) and Figueredo (0 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses), they are the only three players who have participated so far this season but have not won.
Chang Bingyu in the first round against the first top 16 player Murphy in this tournament, chang Bingyu played 50+, Murphy scored a blue ball in the clear lottery stage after scoring 1 point, and then Murphy lost the powder ball, but Chang Bingyu failed to score a difficult powder ball with only 13 seconds left, and unfortunately lost by 1 point.
Li Xing chased the score to 38-38 and conceded the winning red ball, and left a bag of lipstick for Selby in the final half minute, Selby played the red ball and shrewdly chose to defend and win at home. Williams took control of the situation with this superb ball quotient, and repeatedly beat the powerful Carrington. At this point, the three TOP16 players who appeared on the first day achieved full promotion.
Defending champion Ryan Day lost 25-50 to Jack Jones in the opener.
