The Telegraph: Cannavaro has been interviewed by Everton and will compete with Wayne Rooney and Lampard for the managerial position

According to the Daily Telegraph, former Guangzhou Evergrande coach Cannavaro has been interviewed by Everton, and the Toffee is looking for the right person to coach. Cannavaro is eager to find coaching opportunities in England and his initial interview is said to have left a good impression on Everton executives.

Last Sunday, Benitez, who led the team with a poor record, was sacked by Everton. In the search for a new manager, the club's majority shareholders Fahad Mossieri and chairman Bill Kenwright have played an important role, having interviewed former England internationals Wayne Rooney and Lampard.

It's unclear if the final shortlist is just the 3 aforementioned, but sources say Everton is likely to choose from three. At first, Everton wanted to appoint Belgian national team coach Robert Martinez as the team manager, but the Belgian Football Association did not agree, and they refused Martinez's request to wear both positions.

While looking for a new manager, Everton have appointed Duncan Ferguson as the team's interim manager, which could buy them more time.
