The DPP authorities played the "Chiang Ching-kuo card" in the hope of strengthening the line of "resisting China and defending Taiwan" and winning over Chiang Ching-kuo's supporters. The DPP authorities praised Chiang Ching-kuo's meritorious deeds, and even some opinions held that the DPP's ability to form the party in 1986 was a deliberate move by Chiang Ching-kuo. The DPP's approach is also to compete with Ko Wenzhe for the market of the "national card" and win votes for the 2022 Taipei mayoral election and the 2024 Taiwan regional leadership election in advance.

However, the Anti-authoritarian Taiwan Folk Truth and Reconciliation Promotion Association has written an article criticizing the DPP's actions. It means that the DPP is determined that the "independence faction" will definitely support it, and in order to expand its support in 2024, it will have a better chance to take a big position, and will not hesitate to "revise and adjust" its past position.
