"Three-five detachments" is the abbreviation of the three, four, and five detachments under the command of the "Three Northern Guerrilla Columns" by the people of eastern Zhejiang during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

From May 1941 to October 1945, the "Three-Five Detachments" were active in the eastern Zhejiang region and established the 19th base area in the country, including Siming, Huiji, Sanbei and Songhu regions, with an area of nearly 20,000 square kilometers and a population of more than 4 million. In this battlefield behind enemy lines, the "three or five detachments" fought 643 large and small battles against the Japanese puppet army, killing, wounding, and capturing nearly 10,000 Japanese and puppet officers and men.

On April 19, 1941, the Japanese army launched the "Battle of Ningshao". Only 4 days later, all of eastern Zhejiang fell. Previously, the Kuomintang not only did not increase its troops in eastern Zhejiang, but instead stepped up the "clearing of the countryside" in the Pudong area, making it difficult for the Communist army to gain a foothold in Shanghai.

At this critical moment, the CPC Central Committee noticed that almost all the Kuomintang troops in eastern Zhejiang had withdrawn, while the Japanese puppet army had only occupied a few large towns in Ningbo, Yuyao, and Cixi, and that a "vacuum" had appeared in the three northern regions of eastern Zhejiang (the area north of the Yao River in Zhenhai, Cixi, and Yuyao counties). Therefore, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, and others twice telegraphed the Central China Bureau of the CPC, Liu Shaoqi, and Chen Yi, requesting that the contingent be put into the eastern Zhejiang region in batches and that this area be added as a "strategic base."

Since arriving in eastern Zhejiang, the "three or five detachments" have shouldered the heavy burden of resisting the Japanese and the puppets. On June 18, 1941, on the third day of the landing of the "Three-Five Detachments" in eastern Zhejiang, the ambush battle of Xianggongdian was launched. This battle was called "the first shot of anti-Japanese resistance behind the enemy in eastern Zhejiang," which dealt a blow to the arrogance of the Japanese Kou, expanded the political influence of our army, and inspired the local masses' confidence in resisting Japan.

After that, after the Battle of Yuyao Henghe, the Battle of Yuyao Qianqian Village, the Battle of HoutuQiao in Yinxi, and the Battle of Dayushan Island in blood, nearly 10,000 Japanese puppet troops were eliminated and three self-defense battles were fought against the "encirclement and suppression" of the Kuomintang army.

Sacrifice more ambitions for having. In the 4 and a half years of the War of Resistance Behind enemy lines, more than 1,000 martyrs were buried in the land of eastern Zhejiang.

Squadron Leader Guan Jie took the lead in the anti-grain grab battle in Dongbutou and led the charge, and was unfortunately killed after being wounded heroically. In 2015, at the military parade commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the honorary banner of the "Guanjie Squadron" flew in the wind together with the honorary banners of other heroic model troops!

Chen Tiekang, Cheng Keming, Yan Hongzhu and 43 other martyrs fought a bloody battle for 7 hours in the battle of Dayushan Island in Zhoushan, facing an all-round attack by the Japanese puppet army with seven or eight times the strength of the Japanese puppet army, land, and air, relying on light weapons and earthen artillery to fight tenaciously for 7 hours.

Cheng Junyi and 98 other commanders and fighters bravely sacrificed their lives in the battle of Yuyao Qiancun. After Cheng Junyi's fiancée Xu Zhiyuan rushed from Shanghai to Simingshan, she inherited his legacy as an excellent military doctor.

Instructor Lin Bo was unfortunately wounded and captured in battle, and was stabbed and killed by the Japanese army 17 times. His lover Yu Yeping embroidered 17 knife holes in the martyr's blood clothes into 17 small red flowers with red velvet thread to send mourning.

On January 8, 1944, in accordance with the orders of the New Fourth Army, the "Three North Guerrilla Column" was officially renamed the "New Fourth Army Zhejiang East Guerrilla Column", which had jurisdiction over the Jinxiao Detachment, the Pudong Detachment, the Three North Self-Defense Corps, the Siming Self-Defense Corps, the Teaching Brigade, the Guard Brigade, and the Coastal Defense Brigade.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in order to take into account the overall situation, the CPC Central Committee ordered the "New Fourth Army Zhejiang East Guerrilla Column" to withdraw from the eastern Zhejiang region as a whole.

On October 1, 1945, more than 15,000 people under the "Zhejiang East Guerrilla Column of the New Fourth Army" were evacuated by boat when they were besieged by 7 regiments of the Kuomintang. After fighting with the enemy for more than ten hours, the plot of the second "Anhui Southern Incident" was completely smashed.
