The game can sometimes feel dragged down by the game system that the production team tried to cram into, and large-scale combat is still a vexing mystery, with no tooltip or tutorial to guide properly. But keeping the novelty alive with interesting random events, meaningful strategic choices, and a large number of puzzling small-scale scenes is largely forgivable, and developers deserve a Romanesque victory.
