6,000 kilometers across the ocean! A beautiful 9-year-old child picks up "37 years ago Japan Bottle Nakashin"

In order to study ocean currents, 37 years ago, a group of Japanese high school students put 750 glass bottles into the sea, but one of the glass bottles was recently discovered by a 9-year-old boy on the island of Hawaii, about 6,000 kilometers away from Japan, which surprised the students who participated in the research project.

According to the British media "Guardian" report, students from the Natural Science Club of Choshi High School in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, put the glass bottle into the sea in 1984 as part of the plan to study ocean currents, and a total of 750 glass bottles were dropped in the waters near Miyake Island in Tokyo from 1984 to 1985.

The glass bottle was last found in 2002 at KikaiJima Island in kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, followed by this (2021) when Abbie Graham, a 9-year-old boy from the United States, picked up the glass bottle again on the rocky beach of Hawaiian Paradise Park, with contact forms in Japanese, English and Portuguese indicating that the bottle was put into the ocean near the coast of Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. The form also mentions that the person who wants to find it can contact the school.

At the beginning of September, Graeme sent the contact form back to Choshi High School along with a graffiti that read, "He ate sushi with his sister," much to the surprise of the vice principal, who said at a briefing on the 15th, "We thought that the one we found on Kikai Island would be the last, and we never thought we would find another one in 37 years."

Since 1985, glass bottles from Choshi High School have been found in 17 locations, including Okinawa, the Philippines, China, and the West Coast of the United States. Mayumi Kanda, 54, who was one of the participants in the program that year, said, "I was surprised that it awakened me to nostalgic memories of my high school days, and I thank those who participated."

In addition, Graeme also enjoyed the experience, telling the media, "I want to go and find another one.".
