Since 2013, Yang Xiaoyu has begun to shoot cultural integration and women's direction. In 2015, "The Life of The Dawning Often Goes Hand in Hand - Chinese Painting Master Xu Shidan", directed and edited by her, won 7 awards at the Hollywood Independent Documentary Film Festival in the United States, and she won 3 personal honors for the best medium-length documentary, the best female director, and the best editing. In 2020, the musical "Another Wonderful Day in Paradise" directed by her won the Best Musical at the Austin Independent Film Festival in the United States, the Best Musical Short Film of the Year in 2020 at the Flicks Independent Film Festival in the United Kingdom, and the "Best Film" in April at the New York Cinematography Awards. The screenplay she wrote, Letter in a Bottle, won the Best Short Film Screenplay Award and was published in the March 2020 issue of Vision Variety. Yang Xiaoyu has always insisted on the theme of women, special groups, ethnic minorities and cultural collisions in the creation of themes, and the micro-short film he directed told the story of a boy who thought he had a heart attack was selected for the final of the National Geographic film unit and broadcast at the Sun Valley Film Festival in 2019.
