According to Yonhap News Agency, the Busan High Court of South Korea held a second-instance trial of the sexual harassment case of former Mayor Ofu Joo-doon of Busan on the 19th, and Wu Judun admitted in court on the same day that he forcibly molested others and caused injuries.

According to reports, Wu Judun submitted an application to the court on the same day before the trial began, regarding the withdrawal of his claim to deny the allegation of forcible indecency and injury. The court had planned to pronounce judgment on the Wu Judun case in the second instance on the same day, but therefore postponed the pronouncement of the verdict and continued the trial.

According to the report, it is pointed out that Wu Judun's sudden change of attitude and confession of guilt is due to fear that continuing to deny the relevant charges will be punished by a heavier sentence by the court of second instance. Wu Judun was sentenced to 3 years in prison in the first instance of this case.

In addition, South Korean prosecutors still asked the court to sentence Wu Judun to seven years in prison. The Busan High Court will pronounce a second-instance judgment on the case on 9 next month.

On April 23, 2020, Wu Judun announced his resignation as mayor of Busan. At a press conference on the same day, Wu Judun also said that he had had unnecessary physical contact with a female civil servant and apologized for this.

According to public information, Wu Judun was born in 1948 and won the 2018 local election on behalf of the ruling party and was elected mayor of Busan. Busan is the largest port and second largest city in South Korea.
