Located on the ground floor of a building built in the early 1920s, the renovation of the Spanish renovation is aimed at two houses on the ground floor with a height difference of 63 cm, and the architect has naturally defined the spaces of different heights with elements, and to a certain extent, created a relaxed atmosphere like a summer house. The renovation project is located on the ground floor of a building built in the early 1920s. The building has five floors, each with four doors, and the characteristics of the era are obvious.
The object of renovation is two houses on the ground floor with a height difference of 63 cm: the traditional apartment with the façade terrace facing the block; as well as the doorman's room built at the same time and located at the back of the plot. Together, they form a separate building mass with a roof terrace and a block-facing terrace.
Both houses have some serious problems, especially the doorman's room, which is located on the lower floor, has high humidity, and has ventilation problems. Therefore, this time will mainly update the doorman's room, which can be summarized into 3 measures:
- Raise the height of the paving with ventilated honeycomb partitions to equal the height of other houses and terraces on the ground floor, acting as a dehumidification and avoiding future moisture due to capillary action.
- Ben can only access the roof via stairs, now opening a small patio on the edge. It was transformed into a 1m x 7m terrace with a translucent staircase leading to the terrace, providing zenith lighting and ventilation of the space. Lower the replacement metal main beam and repair the existing wooden beam.
- Adjust all existing openings facing the block terrace to enlarge the dimensions to make them more closely connected to the surrounding environment.
In addition to the above measures, radiant heating facilities have been added to the paving to solve the problems of ventilation, moisture and lighting on the ground floor; And set up a transition space that can be used in the summer.
Separated by long diagonal walls, sliding doors and furniture, these elements naturally define spaces of different heights and, to some extent, create a relaxed atmosphere like a summer house.
