Brianna Kupfer, a 24-year-old UCLA student, was killed last week, and police offered a reward of 250,000 yuan to arrest the suspect. Kupfer is a Los Angeles resident who studied design courses at the UCLA Extension Program.

Last Thursday afternoon, Kupfee was stabbed to death with a knife by a man while working alone at a furniture store called Croft House. A customer enters the store to shop and finds Coopfer dead.

On Tuesday night, police identified the suspect as Shawn Laval Smith, who is still at large and believed to be armed and dangerous.

Los Angeles City Councilor Paul Koretz on Tuesday asked police to add an additional $50,000 to the $200,000 bounty to catch the suspect as quickly as possible.

"We will find this vicious criminal, we will arrest him, we will prosecute him to the maximum extent of the law," Kreiz said. ”

Police released surveillance footage from a 7-11 convenience store on Tuesday showing the suspect shopping idly after stabbing Coopfer to death. Police said he was also shopping at other stores before and after the crime.

The suspect was described as an African-American man wearing a black hoodie, orange reflective lens sunglasses and a white N95 mask, wearing gray skinny jeans, black shoes and carrying a black backpack. He is believed to be a homeless man.

Police said there was no clear motive at the moment, which they believed was a random attack.
