"夼" is a common word in Jiaodong place names. When it appears as a suffix, the prefixes that accompany it can be various, which can be surnames, terrain, animals and plants, allusions, and even weather.
The one to be introduced this time belongs to the situation with the weather, it is called "rain".
In fact, there are several "rain dams" in the Jiaodong Peninsula. On the Weihai map alone, you can find three, one in Huancui, one in Rongcheng, and one in Wenden. And the next thing to introduce is Wenden's rain dome.

Specifically, Wenden's Yukuan Village is located in the jurisdiction of Zetou Town, not far from Xiaoguan Town. From the Zetou town station to the west through Mianhuling, into the mountains, when you see a large area of water between the mountains (Baoquan Reservoir), you will be close to this village.
Although the location of Yukuan Village is remote, because of its proximity to Baoquan Reservoir and the development of chrysanthemum cultivation in recent years, it has become well-known in the Wenden tourism circle, and many friends may know it here.
Literally, what is the origin of the name Yukuan?
According to the Wenden Gazetteer, rain is indeed associated with "rainy weather". The original name of this place was "Reed", but later because of the microclimate of "low clouds and rain", it was renamed "Rainy Dome". This microclimate is said to be related to factors such as mountain trends, vegetation, wind direction, and air currents.
This special geographical location, on the slopes east of Yukuan Village, can have a more intuitive feeling: the village is surrounded by mountains, the middle terrain is relatively low, and it is built by the water. Such terrain, easy to tide and humidity is also reasonable. Originally, the name of the reed is also a similar environment (the reed likes to grow in wet places, and you can see patches of reeds and reeds on the edge of the village).
According to the records of the gazetteer, the village was first established here in the late Ming Dynasty by a group of Lu people who moved from Xiaoguan. However, during this visit, it was learned that there are now about 100 households in the village, most of whom are surnamed Sun. As for the origin of the Sun surname, it has not been found out for the time being.
The pictures below are all scenes near Yukuan Village. Since it was a winter visit, I did not appreciate the beauty of the golden pheasant this time. Interested friends, you can wait until the blossom season, and then visit this Yukuan Village.
