Introducing "simultaneous comments" for the first time

Reporter Lu Yier

Yesterday, the 10th China Eu Film Festival opened in Shanghai. Shanghai is the third stop of the film festival after Beijing and Chengdu, and this time fans can not only see many award-winning word-of-mouth literary and artistic films in EU countries, but also enjoy the "simultaneous commentary" film review service introduced by the film festival for the first time when watching some films.

This year's EU Film Festival, which was screened in Shanghai, still has many high-quality films that have shined at the three major European film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or-winning film "Rubik's Cube" (aka "Freedom Square"), the best film nomination "The Guardian of Jupiter", the "One Kind of Attention" unit nominations for the films "Direction" and "Far Away", and the director's bi-weekly finalist film "Frost". At the same time, the best works of this year's Berlin Film Festival will also be screened at the festival, including five Golden Bear nomination films "The Other Side of Hope", "The Soil of Bones", "Anna My Love", "Cocktail Party" and "Crazy Mouse". Among them, Finnish film master Aki Kolysmaki's new work "The Other Side of Hope" won the Silver Bear Award for Best Director, and "Anna, My Love" won the Best Artistic Contribution Award. "Summer of '93," which represented Spain in the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, also won the Best Debut Award at the Berlin Film Festival.

The most noteworthy new films at the festival are "Fat Not Easy", a failed go-kart racer who has been shortlisted for this year's Logano Film Festival's "Contemporary Filmmakers" section, and "America Square", a refugee-themed film that represented Greece in the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

Different from previous years, this year's EU Film Festival launched the "Surprise Fantasy Special Curatorial Unit" that shows the exploration and innovation of European films in fantasy themes, and the films screened in Shanghai include "The Guardian of Jupiter", "The Soil of the Bones" and "Vampire".

Another innovation of this year's EU Film Festival is the introduction of the "Simultaneous Review" film review service for film fans for the first time, helping audiences in need to understand and appreciate the best works of literary and artistic films from different cultural contexts. To this end, the film festival invited well-known domestic film critics to record a 1:1 full film review track of "The Guardian of Jupiter" and "Vampire", and the audience can choose whether to wear headphones to listen to the commentary synchronously while watching the film. For example, the commentary track of "The Guardian of Jupiter" was recorded by film critic Ge Ying, including the analysis of the scene design, the dismantling of production techniques, and the background analysis of the European situation.
