Beijing, 19 Jan (Xinhua) -- The opening ceremony and symposium of the "Celebrating the New Year and Welcoming the Winter Olympics -- Cloud Exhibition of International Famous Artists' Works of Art" sponsored by the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries will be held online on 18 January.

Lin Songtian, president of the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said in his speech that the Olympic Games are a sports event for all mankind and an important carrier for promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. The 126 works of art exhibited in this exhibition have high artistic attainment and cultural appreciation value, which not only expresses firm support for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, but also reflects the admiration and pursuit of the Olympic spirit by the people of all countries, and is an artistic feast for mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.

Greek Ambassador to China Iliopoulos mentioned that the promotion of the Olympic concept should not only be supported by countries and international organizations, but also by people of all countries, especially young people, and should also be responded to by artists from all over the world participating in today's event.

At the meeting, a number of Chinese and foreign artists and officials of the Multinational Friendship and Exchange Association also exchanged views on topics such as "Olympic Spirit and Community of Shared Future for Mankind" and "Artistic Diversification and Mutual Learning among Civilizations".
