"This 100-acre free-range chicken farm has more than 4,000 Lu's chickens. More than 1,200 hens have been produced, and now they can collect more than 350 green-shelled eggs a day. The roosters have all grown up and can all be sold out before the Spring Festival. Geng Junzhi, the owner of this family farm, said happily.

Lu's chicken green shell egg is a "Chinese geographical indication product". Lu's chicken is one of the three excellent local chicken breeds in Henan Province, with a handsome body, bright coat color and good at flying; The eggs produced have green shells, which are rare in the country. In 2021, the county's animal husbandry department spent 100,000 yuan to support the "Lu's Chicken Breeding" project in 3 family farms in the county, of which 1650 Lu's chicken breeding chickens were treated free of charge to Geng Junzhi, and Geng Junzhi purchased more than 2,400 Lu's chicken seedlings at his own expense.

From the end of December 2021 to the present, 1/3 of the hens have started production, the rooster has grown, and the whole chicken farm has entered the harvest season. During the interview, Geng Junzhi received calls from time to time to buy eggs and roosters, and also sold a batch of roosters on the spot.

Lu's chicken is suitable for small-scale free range breeding, and the success of large-scale breeding like Geng Junzhi is indeed gratifying. "The fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold." Geng Junzhi is raising chickens for the first time, he has made great efforts in scientific breeding, and he really has a set of "team management"!

Geng Junzhi said that in raising chickens, we must avoid getting sick, second, we must avoid piling up, and third, we must avoid pecking at the anus. Disease prevention, in addition to four or five vaccines, focus on the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis and respiratory diseases, mainly good observation, early prevention; Avoid getting together, mainly to prevent chickens from being crushed to death; Avoid pecking the anus, avoid "pecking frame", some chicken farms use the method of "cutting off the beak", some use the method of "wearing glasses" for chickens, while Geng Junzhi raises roosters and hens separately in two venues, and rushes back to two 500 square meters of chicken coops at night, equivalent to "two dormitories for men and women". Geng Junzhi's wife, Fan Linna, said humorously, "Chickens are like people." The rooster farm is on the upper slope and the hen farm is on the lower slope. When it comes to returning to the nest, they should walk separately, so that each time there are either a few roosters behind, and the hens are lined up in a circle and do not go; Or some hens are running toward the rooster, and the rooster is barking across the fence, as if there is no end to the words. ”

Geng Junzhi's family farm is on a high slope two or three kilometers behind the village, which meets the environmental protection regulations of "three 500 meters" for the development of aquaculture, and at the same time, the procedures for agricultural land for facilities have been completed. Recently, Geng Junzhi invested nearly 200,000 yuan, purchased a large number of chicken cages, booked 5 hatchers, used several abandoned farms on the mountain, and planned to breed another 14,000 Lu's chickens in the next year.

Construction of "Huaguo Mountain"

The 52-year-old Geng Junzhi is really extraordinary! In the early years, he worked as a driver in a county-level car class in Lushi County, and then resigned to go to the sea to run his own transportation, and then worked in Zhejiang and other places, and in April 2013, he transferred more than 200 mu of mountainous land and more than 200 mu of barren slopes abandoned by villagers, and set up a family farm.

Three years ago, Geng Junzhi began to develop fruit trees on the mountain. He went to the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences to introduce new varieties, planted more than 50 acres of new varieties of plum trees such as "bee sugar plum" and "Guofeng No. 7", planted more than 10 acres of "golden honey" peach trees, and planted large cherries on both sides of the road and on the fields. In 2021, the fruit will begin to be hung, and the alpine slopes that have been abandoned for a long time by the masses and overgrown with weeds have become flowers and fruit mountains.

"In the spring of 2021, peach blossoms, plum blossoms, distant views of the clouds, close to the fragrance of the gust. During the summer harvest, the first fruits are fruitful. It felt like all the suffering was worth it. Geng Junzhi said, "When the villagers abandoned this mountainous area, first, it was too remote, and second, there was no water. The poverty alleviation battle that began in 2016 brought him opportunities, the government built a 900-meter cement road to the mountain, built a water lifting project, and the county leaders also coordinated the power supply company to connect electricity to the top of the mountain. He built a 200-cubic-meter reservoir to ensure drought and flood protection. However, the good times were not long, and the water source in the mountain stream below the mountain was unstable, and there was no time. What to do? Geng Junzhi crossed the mountains and mountains to find water sources everywhere, and finally found a mountain spring in Taiping Village on the top of the nearby mountain, and set up a 7,000-meter water diversion pipeline to realize the self-flow of spring water, which can attract 140 cubic meters of water per day. After knowing the preciousness of water resources, Geng Junzhi invested in himself, found machinery, and carried out land consolidation projects, turning the original small pieces of slope into terraces. Then, he invested 60,000 yuan to lay all the buried pipes, realized "water-saving irrigation", and purchased a "Venturi" fertilizer setter, applied water to dissolve fertilizer, and realized the "integration of water and fertilizer". At the same time, by actively enlisting support, the hardened road has reached the top of the mountain. In order to improve the agricultural production conditions of the entire Qicunwan Village Houshan, the town has set up a project to start construction, and the width of the uphill road will be expanded by another 1.5 meters.

"This has become a mountain of flowers and fruits." Geng Junzhi said, "I have been here for 9 years, and I will continue to work." I'm a farmer and I love the yellow soil. Although I have paid a lot, I am willing to invest, and it is my pursuit to have abundant grains, fragrant melons and fruits, and abundant harvests. ”

During the interview, the reporter felt Geng Junzhi's deep love for the agricultural and forestry industry. At the top of the mountain, more than 200 acres of forest slopes, he has planted cypress trees for many years, pursuing ecological benefits. More than 200 acres of mountainous land have realized water, electricity and roads in his hands, and have become water-saving, uniform, and irrigation fields at any time.

"Earn some money and put it in again." He has invested nearly 2 million yuan in this family farm in recent years. He introduced the "Shang potato 19" high-yield new varieties, at most he planted more than 100 acres of sweet potatoes a year, each mu can produce 5,000 pounds of sweet potatoes, 5 pounds of sweet potatoes to produce a pound of vermicelli, so that the output value of 10,000 yuan per mu has reached 10,000 yuan. More than 80 acres of Chinese medicinal herbs such as bitter ginseng were planted, and crops such as corn were planted. The harvest is also quite a lot, but there is no money in the hand, fortunately, the children have become a family, and his two families and parents-in-law have become the main labor force of the family farm, production, harvesting, input, cycle back and forth, endless labor.

Became a "soil expert"

Geng Junzhi is a person who loves to study agricultural science and technology, and is also a person who is enthusiastic about "passing on help" and serving the masses. He was hired by the county as a "science and technology commissioner" and "special agricultural technician", respectively, to guide, serve and promote the agricultural technology of Wenyu Township in the county and the production technology of traditional Chinese medicinal materials in the county, during which he was also rated as "Excellent Science and Technology Commissioner of Henan Province".

He took the lead in introducing and promoting more than 10 kinds of good seeds and good methods in Lushi County. The sweet potato varieties planted for a long time in Lushi County have not changed for many years and have more diseases. He went to the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences to introduce the new variety of "Shang potato 19", which has a high yield per mu, a high flour yield and few diseases, and gradually spread it in the county; At the same time, in view of the fact that sweet potato crops are prone to rhizome nematode disease, the incubation period is two years and eight months, he suggested that farmers plant sweet potatoes every three years in the same plot, and carry out stubble adjustment to eliminate diseases. He paid attention to the introduction of advanced agricultural machinery and tools to improve labor efficiency, and successively introduced agricultural machinery such as rhizome harvesters and automatic cleaning feeding and flour milling machines.

As a "science and technology commissioner" and "specially hired agricultural technician," he would rather make mistakes in farming on his own farm every year than go deep into the townships and towns he has covered to guide peasant production, hold training courses in the fields, train thousands of peasants every year, and teach agricultural production techniques by hand. Especially in the development of the forsythia industry, he suggested that the forsythia promotion area be set at an altitude of more than 700 meters according to years of research and practice; At the same time, according to the characteristics of the "cold spring" weather along the Luohe River, it is recommended that government departments promptly organize farmers to take preventive measures of "lighting fires and smoking", support professional cooperatives to purchase "fireworks" generators, and prevent frost damage on a large scale.
