Seagrass, everywhere on the yellow sand and saline ground of the sea, under the soaking of the sea and the invasion of wind and sand, grows savagely and does not die, as if the silhouette of im, the new life is extremely resilient. Just like the positioning of Hong Lei, the founder of the Im Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival, for this youth short film exhibition: professional enough, young enough, and sincere enough, itself means a certain persistence. The 2nd Im Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival will be held in Pingtan, Fujian Province, from August 24 to 29, 2021. As a film festival still in the childhood, new tracks, new ideas, new sense of body. From this year's 1376 entries, the post-00 generation has become the mainstream of applicants, and we seem to see the trend of the fire gradually becoming. They are like a seaweed plant without a fixed posture, refusing to be pruned by the gardener, growing freely, and gradually growing the appearance of a young filmmaker.

Born on the island, with the mountain as the shadow and the sea as the basis, a blue mountain and sea pictorial, let people remember this wave to "make the tide". This year, young im and young you continue to grow together, from blue waves, mountains to blue-green waves, weeds, from "every wave goes to the island" to "grows wildly towards the sea breeze", what we want to express is not only a visual change, but also the continuation of the im story and the transmission of ideas.

This year's film festival is designed with tenacity, exuberance and freedom as the design concept, and the gradient curves are both waves and sea breezes, surrounding the shape of the unicorn god beast on Pingtan Island. The seemingly messy weeds on the island are thorny weeds that grow in the crevices of the seaside stone walls when the sea breeze is constantly blowing and the waves are not extinguished. Just like the new generation of film and television creators, although the grass is inconspicuous, it has tenacious vitality, is not afraid of wind and waves, and grows wildly.

At this year's IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival, we worked with CNEX to create a "Life and Death" creative training camp. This bootcamp seeks to be a "filter" for new opportunities that are emerging in the film industry in the post-pandemic era. From a pure and professional point of view, we screen out the good works that really belong to young directors in this rushed era. Mr. Wang Xiaoshuai, Mr. Xu Xiaoming, Mr. Liao Qingsong, Ms. A mei, Mr. Li Ruijun, Mr. Tang Danian and Mr. Xiao Ruguan served as directors, producers, editors and screenwriters respectively in this year's "Endless Life" creative training camp. "Every director's last ultimate dream is definitely to make a movie", how to generate deep connection and empathy with the audience from a multi-dimensional perspective, how to judge that short films have the potential to become long films, and how should mature long film scripts connect with the mainstream market? This exchange is not only the teaching of film skills, but also the spiritual guidance and exploration of market propositions.

Young filmmakers have always unremittingly broken through the shackles of the program, diligently explored the youth narrative in the pluralistic era, and walked on the road of creation. Cinema is the art of dreaming. We firmly believe that for movies and for the dreams of young people, even if they are small, one day they can gather water into waves and grass into the original.
