The Wizards and Pistons had preliminary conversations about the Grant deal with the players or seeking a 4-year contract for over $100 million

According to Wizards reporter Quinton Mayo, multiple sources revealed that the team and the Pistons had preliminary conversations about the deal with forward Jeramie Grant. For now, however, his talent cap and upcoming early contract extension give the Pistons a reason to negotiate. Grant may be looking for a 4-year contract of more than $100 million.

Grant's contract expires in 2023 and is in salary of $20 million this season and $20.96 million next season.

Grant had previously suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb and was currently recovering. This season he averaged 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game, shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from three-point range.
