The Spring Festival is approaching, and many fresh goods have appeared on the major fresh online shopping platforms. Among them, a "cute fat mushroom" with a crimson head is loved by consumers, and it is quite delicious to fry, stew and stir-fry.

This mushroom is called the large bulbous mushroom, also known as the red pine mushroom. In Xinlu Village, Luojing Town, Baoshan, in the northeast corner of Shanghai, some "baby mushrooms" are trying to absorb nutrients, waiting to walk to the tables of ordinary people in a full form during the Spring Festival.

Driving into Shinji Village, where the "Fat Mushroom" grows, people will first see a striking sign that reads: Please pay attention! You have entered the Shanghai Water Resources Secondary Conservation Area. In recent years, Xinlu Village, which is adjacent to the mouth of the Yangtze River (Baosteel Reservoir) in the east, has focused on creating a four-character signboard of "Vegetable Fragrance Xinlu", and the high-quality water source conditions are its unique ecological endowments.

In the village, the roads are clean, the walls are low, there are hand-painted village style paintings on the walls, the vegetable greenhouses everywhere are full of vitality, and the Idyllic scenery of Haipai is pleasant.

Walking into the greenhouse with large bulbous cover mushrooms, the reporter was a little dumbfounded, why are there rows of neat tree trunks planted on the ridges of the fields?

"This is our 'under-forest economy' test base, where dendrobium is planted on the trunk of a toon tree, while mushrooms are grown using the land under the tree." Zhu Binbin, deputy mayor of Luojing Town, immediately answered his question.

The deputy mayor with a "baby face" in front of him wears sunglasses, but he is not "playing cool". Before being transferred to Luojing, Zhu Binbin had been engaged in grass-roots forest fruit technology promotion services for 17 years. He has been working in an agroforestry environment for a long time, and he is accustomed to carrying a pair of sunglasses with him to cope with the harsh sunlight.

For the large bulbous mushrooms under his feet, Zhu Binbin is no stranger. In 2019, as a senior agronomist, he was selected to work as a village instructor in Xinyi Village, Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, and participated in the work of planting large bulbous cover mushrooms under kiwifruit trees.

Why it? It is understood that the fruiting body of the large bulbous mushroom is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and polysaccharides and other nutrients, and strong stress resistance, easy to cultivate, is one of the edible mushrooms recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to developing countries, in recent years has been in Jinshan, Chongming and other areas have a certain planting foundation.

In October last year, in order to intensively use land resources, Shinlu Village began to develop a "forest economy" under the guidance of relevant technical experts and the support of related technologies and materials. In November of the same year, the mushroom species of the large bulbophyllum lived in the greenhouse and became "neighbors" with toon and dendrobium.

"What is this?" The reporter asked about a layer of covering on the field. "It's straw." Zhu Binbin said that this is to maintain a certain moisture content, covered with straw during the growth of the strain. It is generally believed in the industry that a large number of straw and dead branches of trees are used in the planting and production process of large bulbous mushrooms, and the straw and dead branches can be used for forest rearing after harvesting, which greatly promotes the recycling of agricultural and forestry wastes.

In an open field not far from the greenhouse, large bulbous mushrooms are also planted under rows of citrus trees. Because of the different indoor and outdoor growth conditions, the production time of the "mushroom baby" planted in the two places at the same time will be different.

At present, all the "mushroom babies" are still growing, and it is expected that mushrooms can be listed around the Spring Festival. As a mushroom with high yield, the yield of large bulbous mushrooms grown under the forest can reach 2,000 to 3,000 catties per acre. Zhu Binbin said that as one of the projects in Luojing Town to explore the development of characteristic agricultural industry, if the cultivation of mushrooms under the forest is smooth, more forest land resources will be rationally developed and effectively utilized in the future, the under-forest economy will be developed, and the function and efficiency of woodland will be improved.

With the development of the industry, a series of research and learning activities will also keep up. In the future, it will become an off-campus labor practice base for primary and secondary school students in Baoshan District, and undertake certain agricultural science popularization functions, where students can experience watering, fertilization, picking and other agricultural activities.

Earlier than the "mushroom baby" came to Xinlu Village was its "neighbor" Dendrobium, and the person who brought them was Lao Huang, who talked about Dendrobium and talked endlessly.

Old Huang's name is Huang Xianbao, who came to Shanghai from his hometown Ofandang Mountain 30 years ago, and has long had hometown-like feelings for Baoshan. For many years, Lao Huang has been engaged in the garden fruit tree business, and began to specialize in dendrobium cultivation five or six years ago. In March 2021, with the advancement of the revitalization of xinlu village, Lao Huang discovered this ecological village close to the mouth of the Yangtze River.

"You come over, okay?" "Okay." With the strong support of the town and village governments, Lao Huang quickly moved the company over. After a comprehensive renovation, an idle vacant land provided by the village was successfully transformed into a dendrobium planting and production base.

The old yellow dendrobium is different from others. He had an innate advantage, namely his knowledge of fruit trees. With this advantage, he made extensive use of eco-ecological cultivation in the base – planting jujube trees, pomegranate trees, ginkgo biloba trees and other tree species in large pots, and planting Dendrobium officinale epiphytes on the tree body, which is associated with fruit trees. In this way, it can mimic the wild environment of Dendrobium officinale, reduce artificial intervention, and allow Dendrobium to rely on its own roots to absorb nutrients from the tree and the air. "Dendrobium grown in this way is closer to wild quality and more economical." Huang Xianbao said.

Due to the low temperature due to the winter season, the dendrobium on the fruit trees is not obvious and looks darker. Lao Huang explained that Dendrobium is currently in a dormant period, and when it comes back at the turn of spring and summer, you can see the green in your eyes. "At that time, we are going to have a dendrobium festival and invite everyone to come and pick it."
