In early 2015, the Hongshan police in Wuhan received an alarm, and Ms. Qiao, who came to Wuhan from Shanxi, said that she had been defrauded of 5 million yuan in Wuhan four years ago and hoped to get help from the police.
Time pulled back to 2011, when the 26-year-old Ms. Qiao was in love with Yang, Yang's brother Dayang learned that Ms. Qiao's family was rich, so he often bragged about his steel business in front of Ms. Qiao.
In August of that year, Dayang invited Ms. Qiao and Xiao Yang to come to Wuhan for tourism, and by the way, they inspected the investment in the business district. The night before they were ready to return home, Dayang and his partner Hong came to Ms. Qiao's hotel to chat.
Dayang kept answering the phone, saying that he had just received a large order and was very profitable, but the capital chain was tight and needed 5 million yuan to turn around. Dayang made a request to Ms. Qiao to borrow money, promised to return the money within a month, and also took out an order contract.
Because her savings were less than one million, Ms. Qiao borrowed money from her brother-in-law and eventually transferred the 5 million yuan she had collected to Yang and Hong.
However, a month passed, and Dayang and Hong failed to repay the money on time. The two were able to connect at first, and then disappeared completely. Soon after, Ms. Qiao and her boyfriend Xiao Yang also broke up. She traveled to their hometown several times to look for someone, but there has been no progress.
In 2015, according to the steel order contract provided by Ms. Qiao, Hongshan police officers Liu Wei and Zhao Suoping went to Nanjing and Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, to find Party A in the contract, and it was determined that the contract was forged. At this point, Ms. Qiao realized that this was a complete scam.
During the period, every year around the Lantern Festival, around the Dragon Boat Festival, the police have to go to the hometown of Yang and Hong to inquire about the whereabouts, through several years of unremitting efforts, the police finally learned of Dayang's whereabouts, and at the end of 2018, Dayang was arrested in Fujian.
"The steel sales contract was forged by Me and Hong, and we didn't receive a big order at all." Dayang confessed that he and Hong saw that a speculative project in Henan was profitable, but they were suffering from lack of funds, so they started Ms. Qiao's idea. However, after the speculative project failed, Dayang and Hong lost their money and scattered in one shot.
In 2019, Dayang was sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined 150,000 yuan.
Dayang has been sentenced, but Hong is still missing. Until one day in December 2019, there was a trace of Hong near a community on Minquan Road in Jianghan District, and the police could not eat and went straight to the community to arrest Hong.
However, Hong refused to admit the facts of the crime, because the time span was too long, the police handling the case believed that to prove that Hong was involved in fraud, it was necessary to collect evidence from the parties who participated in the 5 million speculative business that year, but the parties were scattered throughout the country at this time, which was undoubtedly an extremely difficult job.
After a great deal of work, the civilian police obtained the key testimony of several parties. In Zhengzhou, Henan, the police found a construction group that participated in speculation that year, and learned through investigation that their investment behavior was related to their subsidiaries.
During the period, police officers Liu Wei and Jiang Peng traveled all over Zhengzhou and Anyang in Henan, Taiyuan, Pingyao, Shijiazhuang in Hebei and other places in Shanxi, and finally found Huang Mou, a salesman who witnessed the transfer in Xi'an, Shaanxi.
During that period of business travel, they both averaged more than 20,000 steps a day, and the WeChat movement often "dominated the list".
At that time, the epidemic situation was improving, and Wuhan was unsealed. Liu Wei and Jiang Peng began to travel everywhere to look for witnesses, to find people in the village, and the minibus sat for more than 5 hours; some witnesses did not want to come forward, so they squatted on the side of the road and nibbled on the burnt cake and waited for him.
"One of the witnesses had promised to wait for us in Pingyao, Shanxi, but ran over but pounced, and the people went to Quanzhou again, and we chased quanzhou that night, from minus 11 degrees in Shanxi to 20 degrees in Quanzhou, which was very sour." Jiang Peng recalled with a bitter smile.
In the face of the evidence, Hong finally admitted to the illegal facts of that year, was arrested and successfully prosecuted according to law, and in September 2021, the court sentenced Hong to 14 years in prison for committing fraud.
