Before the trip, Suzhou Guanqian Street, Shantang Street, Pingjiang Road and the former residence of the four sisters of Hefei----- Jiuru Lane, all want to see. However, the itinerary was limited, and the night before, my friend arranged a night tour of the ancient canal, and on the last night we decided to go to the historical and cultural district of Pingjiang Road to forage for food.
During the Song Dynasty, Suzhou was called "Pingjiang", and its name was derived from this. Pingjiang Road is a small road near the river, bordering the Humble Administrator's Garden in the north and the Twin Towers in the south, with a total length of 1606 meters, which is a classic water alley with a long history in Suzhou. As early as the map of Suzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty, Pingjiang Road was clearly recognizable and was the main road in the eastern half of Suzhou at that time. For more than 800 years, not only the river form and street structure of Pingjiang Road are basically similar to the original, but also the water town pattern of "parallel waterways and adjacent river streets" has been clearly retained. Pingjiang Road is the best-preserved ancient street in Suzhou, separated from Guanqian Street by an alley, but its quiet and simple life atmosphere and the boiling noise just a few feet away are two worlds. My son's classmates were admitted to Soochow University, and this time I heard that I went to Suzhou to play, and suggested that I must feel the old streets of Suzhou.
Although Pingjiang Road has been protected and transformed as a historical and cultural street, the main feature is to repair the old as old cards. Many old houses along the street have actually been used as bars and clubs, but the appearance is not ostentatious, quietly hidden under the wooden door panels, at first glance it looks no different from ordinary houses, only from the particularly exquisite carved porch can be glimpsed. Compared with Shantang Street, which is also an old street in Suzhou, Pingjiang Road has less commercial atmosphere, preserved the old appearance of the city lanes, and retained the people's sentiments to a greater extent.
We walked from the hotel we stayed on Pingjiang Road, but it took more than ten minutes. In suzhou at night, there are not many pedestrians and vehicles are flowing through endlessly. There are few high-rise buildings on both sides of the road, most of which are white facades, which retain a certain historical and cultural style.
Walk to Pingjiang Road, stone road, green bricks and green tiles, how many vicissitudes under your feet. A small river with no end in sight, accompanied by lanterns on both sides, reflects the quaint houses, white walls and green tiles, and wooden fences and flower windows. The peeling walls are covered with vines and vines, swaying with the wind and moving. Jiangnan people have exquisite hearts and unique charm.
Stop-and-go along the way, we look for Gangnam snacks. It is the Qingming season, and the sticky food unique to Jiangnan is my favorite. Green dumplings, osmanthus cakes, small ribs, chicken feet, pig's trotters, stinky tofu, and exquisite snacks of various shapes can't help but buy and taste. People who want to eat a full meal pass by a restaurant called "Fish Eat Rice Rice" and want to taste authentic Suzhou cuisine. Can go in a look, the queue has reached more than 20 behind, the popularity is too good, the service attitude is not retained. Finally, I visited a traditional old shop of "Hong Registration", found a place to sit down, listened to Suzhou comments, ate food, and ordered a large table of delicious food in one go, but unfortunately I did not have time to take pictures, so I put down chopsticks.
Speaking of Suzhou cuisine, it is still okay to try it, it really makes me eat every day, or I am not used to it. Everyone's favorite is still the hometown dish.
