There are still 16 days to go before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, and the popular science project brought to you today is - speed skating!
Speed skating originated from Northern Europe, referred to as speed skating, commonly known as the avenue. The earliest recorded skating activity is 800 years old.

The Beijing Winter Olympics speed skating event will be held at the National Speed Skating Hall (Ice Ribbon) in Beijing, resulting in a total of 14 gold medals. The competition venue will use the latest environmental protection technology to make ice, the ice surface temperature is -6 °C to 10.5 °C, and the thickness is 2.5 cm.
The speed skating track is long and fast, and the race costume should also consider the resistance of the wind. The ice knife used for speed skating is Clap's new ice knife, which only has a fixed connection between the front point and the skates, and the back point is not fixed with the skates, thus extending the ice pedaling distance, optimizing the action structure, and improving the sliding speed.
The individual race is held in groups of two, the inner and outer lanes are determined by lottery, and the tracks are exchanged for each lap of the taxi, that is, in the two tracks, the athletes who start in the inner lane must change to the outer lane when they glide to the lane change area, and the athletes on the outside lane must change to the inner lane.
The team chase matches 2 teams per group, with 3 players per team, starting at the same time from the opposite straights. After 8 laps of men's skating and 6 laps of women's skating, the winner is decided by the time it takes to pass the finish line.
In a group race, the athletes stand in rows at the starting point, with a maximum of 6 people in each row. On the first lap after departure, you can only follow the No. 1 player to glide, and wait until you fire the gun again to accelerate beyond.
