Why was Joan of Arc captured

On 23 May 1430 Joan of Arc was captured by the Burgundians and handed over to their ally, the English. She was only about 18 years old at the time.

She was captured by the Burgundy II, who had joined forces with the British against King Charles VII of France (his coronation in Remus had been protected by Joan of Arc the year before).

The occupied town of Complne by Joan of Arc is located about 790 km northeast of Paris.

Why was Joan of Arc captured

The town was known in the 20th century for two great traditions: in 1918 Germany signed an armistice there after its defeat in World War I, and in 1940 Hitler humbled France in a similar way.

Joan of Arc and her troops tried to defend the town of Campigny from the Burgundian army. However, in one attack, the gates of the city of Combinje were closed before Saint Joan and her troops managed to retreat to safety.

She was captured by the Burgundians and then transferred to their allies, the British. Joan of Arc was only about 18 years old at the time.

During her British captivity, Joan of Arc was accused of heresy. She was sentenced to death and burned to death a year after her arrest at the age of about 19.

About 25 years after burning, Joan of Arc's case was re-examined. She was acquitted, declared innocent, and declared a Catholic martyr.

In 1909, Pope St. Pius X proclaimed her blessed, and in 1920 the Catholic Church, especially Pope Benedict XV, declared her a saint.
