The previous "Memories of Killing" is adapted from one of the three unsolved cases in South Korea, the Hwaseong serial murder case, which was arrested in 2019 and severely punished by the law. Today's talk is about the disappearance of Li Jionghao, the second of the three major unsolved cases.
The story begins with a happy family, the father is a nationally renowned news anchor, and the mother is a beautiful full-time housewife who is pregnant with a chubby little angel. In order to make her son fit, the mother took time to accompany her son to exercise and lose weight every day, and the original life was so carefree, until one day her son played in the community as usual, but he did not return for a long time.
No matter how anxiously the parents waited, the son never returned that night, and all they did was a phone call from the mysterious man. The man on the phone said he had kidnapped their son and demanded a ransom of $100 million. Middle-class fathers are willing as long as their sons can return safely, no matter how much money they give. When the father went to pay the ransom, a mother who believed in the justice and ability of the police, in order to save her son in double insurance, secretly called the police, and the final result was that the father did not bring back the missing son.
Because his father was a well-known anchor, the police sent a lot of manpower and material resources to handle this case, but I don't know whether the murderer was too cunning, or the South Korean police at that time had old-fashioned and incompetent, and the police repeatedly crossed the shoulders with the murderer. For example, ming installed a monitor, but was turned around at the moment when the murderer was photographed. Ming Ming followed his father all day and night, and successfully shared a car with the murderer, but finally the police were knocked unconscious by the murderer and left naked in the wild.
The police told the father that the child's voice on the phone was a recording, which also implied that the child may have been killed, and the father gradually calmed down, but when the murderer's phone came as expected, when the child's voice rang again on the other end of the phone, I believe that in the face of such a situation, as long as there is a slight opportunity, the parents will not give up, the poor parents submitted a ransom of 100 million yuan here, but still did not wait for their son. For a full 44 days, the killer used 13 different telephones to call the child's parents 87 times, and the so-called murderous intention was no more than that, and finally the police found the child's body by the Han River. According to the autopsy report, the child was killed the day after the abduction, and the killer had not been seen since the son's body was found.
At the end of the film, when the father resumes work on the first day, the news is broadcast of his son's disappearance, and when the highest professionalism can not resist the grief in his heart, the father took out the cassette tape with trembling hands and played the audio of the murderer in front of the audience all over Korea. This audio is not post-production of the film, but a recording of the original case that has not undergone any post-processing, combined with the plot of the whole movie, which is really chilling.
Hell is open, the devil is on earth, the 15-year litigation period in South Korea has passed, and it is not known where the murderer is now, nor does it know whether when the movie was released, the murderer sat in the theater and admired his masterpiece of destroying a happy family. And what can we do as spectators?
