In the upcoming Thor 4: Love and Thunder, Marvel has the opportunity to introduce a new ability of Thor.

In the movies we are currently seeing, Thor's ability is basically to summon thunder and lightning, with infinite power and quite high physical defense.

But many other characters have similar abilities to Thor, and readers don't see them as gods.

Mr. Immortal, for example, basically has the ability to not die; the Hulk can destroy an entire planet when he is at his strongest; and Franklin Richards (the son of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman) can change reality.

To name a few characters, their abilities are very bullish, but they are not considered gods.

But judging from the comics, Thor has a special ability, a symbol of his presence as a deity— he can listen to prayers.

In the first episode of Thor: God of Thunder, a girl from a planet that doesn't believe in gods prays to Thor.

Her planet had been impoverished by years without rain, and Thor heard her prayer for rain and brought a thunderstorm to the planet.

Impressively, Thor was not near the planet at the time, suggesting that his ability to listen to prayers defy distance limits.

Thor was able to hear prayers not because of some superpower, but because of his status as Thor.

In Thor 4, there happens to be a God Slayer, Gel, played by Christian Bell, who vows to kill all the gods who do not answer prayers because the prayers of the people of his planet to the gods are not answered.

So judging from Gel's storyline, it is very likely that Thor's ability to listen to prayers will be explored in Thor 4.

"Thor 4" is scheduled to be released in North America on July 8.
