Robertson: I have to win a few more world championships to be among the great players in Snooker

Robertson, 39, beat Barry Hawkins 10-4 at Alexandria Palace in London last Sunday to win his second Masters title.

Robertson said after the game: "Winning the 'Big Three' again will be my ultimate goal. It's not too late to hit the World Championships with three or four titles from now on. Look at Tom Brady, his achievements are a great encouragement to me. ”

Quarterback Brady has led the Tampa Bay Pirates into the NFL playoffs this season, and the 44-year-old is starting to pounce on his eighth Super Bowl title.

Robertson added: "Seeing that Brady continues to write his legend in his forties, then I can believe that I can achieve what I want in my forties. You just have to stay confident and believe in yourself. ”

With three months to go before the World Championships on April 16, finding the right partner is key for Robertson to win the World Championship again.

Robertson said: "I can no longer excuse my poor performance on the grounds that the [Crucible] venue is narrow. Maybe it's because of my stubbornness about the World Championships that I didn't choose the right people to face the challenges of the World Championships with me. ”

"It's good to win the championship on your own, and you can act as a spiritual mentor or a psychiatrist for yourself. But for the World Championships, it's still different, the race is too long, you need a good team to accompany you. ”

As the sport's most successful non-British player, Robertson has won three British Championships, two Masters and one World Championship. Last Sunday's Victory at the Masters was also Robertson's sixth "Three Series" title. In the "Three Contests" all-time champion list, Robertson ranked seventh. He trails only Ronnie O'Sullivan (20 crowns), John Higgins (9 crowns) and Mark Selby (9 crowns) among active players.

Robertson has won 21 ranking titles so far in his career, but in the 12 years since winning the 2010 World Championships, his best time at the World Championships has been only once in the final four.

"I'm confident of doing that (winning at the World Championships) and I just need to put myself in the right frame of mind. I'm happy with my current results, two Masters titles, three British Championships and one World Championship are enough to make me brilliant. I had to win a few more world championships to be among the great players of snooker. ”

"I know I'm respected in this sport too, but there's no doubt that you have to pick up a few more world champions to be on the World Championships' list of 'multi-champions'."

Robertson didn't fully exert himself in Sunday's final, but kept scoring Hawkins for his mistakes and won an overwhelming victory. He has been outstanding this season, winning against Higgins at the England Open in November and runners-up at the World Grand Prix with a loss to Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Since winning his first ranking title in 2006, Robertson has been able to win one title every year since then, which is a remarkable achievement.

Speaking on BBC Two, Steve Davis said: "Although he doesn't have the dazzling 'three majors' championship resumes like Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mark Williams or John Higgins, he's on par with them. ”

"He is such a strong contender, similar to the British Championship champion Zhao Xintong, who is naturally a popular candidate for the World Championships. Maybe his world championship history is not good, but it's a good indication of how many great players there are in snooker. ”

John Parot, the 1991 World Championship champion, added: "He's a god-level contender and one of the greatest players of all time. To him, the comment of winning only one World Championship title when he has enough ability may seem unruly, but I think he would want to break that record. ”
