On the street, next to the door of a shop, there was a pair of stone piers. Looking at its vicissitudes and mottled appearance, it should be an old object, which is not common nowadays.
To be honest, although it is an old object, this thing is actually not very valuable. Because in the past, the gate of each household was almost lined with this kind of door pier made of limestone, because the limestone texture was soft, easy to carve, plus it was cheap, so most of them used it as a material. Because limestone is easily corroded by the external environment, it now looks mostly mottled and rarely looks good. Because the number is large, the good quality is relatively small, and the pattern is mostly relatively simple, so the price of such things is relatively cheap. It is precisely because it is not worth anything that it is casually placed outside!

Although this stone door pier is somewhat corroded and the pattern is somewhat blurred, it is still interesting to distinguish the pattern carved on it. Carefully distinguish the circular pattern on the top, it turns out that the Lingzhi Immortal Grass is surrounded by the "Orb", which is the "Ganoderma lucidum offering". The motif in the middle of the door pier is a bat, and below it is a deer; because "bat" is consonant with "Fu", and "deer" is consonant with "Lu", here it should be "Fu Lu Double Complete". You see, just these few patterns on the door piers have the auspicious meaning of these traditional cultures.
Although its pattern is simple and the carving is not very fine, it is simple and generous, and it is a little rustic.
The upper part of the door pier is carved into the shape of a round drum, which contrasts with the square base below, and seeks coordination between one round and one side, which is called "no square circle is not a rule", which is indeed quite meaningful!
You see, through this pair of stone door piers, traditional culture is consciously or unconsciously contained in it, so that we have to admire the wonderful wisdom of the craftsmen of the old days!
