The reference news network reported on January 16 that according to the Associated Press Washington reported on January 13, the embattled US President Biden and his own party senators engaged in a closed-door melee, obviously without results. An unruly Democrat gave a jaw-dropping speech in the Senate. House Republican leaders also held a provocative news conference. The incidents, all of which took place on Thursday, were a blow to Democrats. All of this reflects the large stalemate in Washington, rife with disagreement and futility.
The revision of the "obstruction of deliberations" was opposed by the party
U.S. President Joe Biden said Thursday he's not sure the Democrats' set of important bills on protecting voting rights will pass Congress this year.
Previously, Senator Corsten Sinaima, an important Democrat in Arizona, dramatically announced that she refused to support the revision of the Senate's "obstruction" rule, which is the key to democrats' push for the above bill to pass in the Senate.
Biden reportedly went to the Capitol in person for a closed-door meeting to mobilize Democratic senators, but when he showed up, he didn't look optimistic. He vowed to continue fighting for the bill, which is said to be crucial to protecting the right to vote.
Biden said: "Honestly, I don't know if we can do that... [But] as long as I'm in the White House, I'm going to keep fighting for it." And just a few minutes ago, Sinaema had almost completely destroyed hopes of passing the bill — she declared before Biden arrived at the Capitol that she did not support a "short-sighted" change in the rules of procedure. That left Biden with no success again after a high-profile visit to Congress.
