【First line: 360 lines】Drone flight controller: open the "Eye of the Sky"

"After picking mushrooms, I didn't come back." UAV flight controller Pu Siwu told the reporter of China Industry Network. On September 7, an elderly man in Beijing went up the mountain and lost for more than 24 hours, and the fire brigade immediately rescued him. In the rescue team, in addition to the firefighters, there are two drone flight controllers.

Different from the firefighters' hiking search and rescue, the drone looks for the target point from the angle of high altitude overlook. "My main task today is to use drones to search and rescue in the sky." UAV flight controller Pu Siwu told the reporter of China Industry Network. When the vegetation is relatively dense, open the drone's thermal imaging system, through the temperature can perceive the position of the person, "if the red dots are connected, basically there are people." But some are also large stones. "Once the target is determined, the drone flight controller immediately contacts the firefighters to inform the coordinate point and immediately carries out rescue."

Pu Siwu, who used to do sales, began to learn drones in 2019, and he caught up with the "good time".

With the successful application for the Beijing Winter Olympics in July 2015, since May 2018, Beijing Yanqing District has extensively carried out a series of training to benefit the people, such as games support, ice and snow industry, horticulture industry, catering services, volunteer services, and practical technology, so as to serve and protect the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, while adapting to the actual needs of Yanqing's transformation and development and labor employment. The Yanqing District Huimin Training Program is not only free for residents in the district, but also responsible for recommending employment for successful completion. As a Yanqing person, Pu Siwu entered the industry of drone flight controller at this time.

When I first started studying, it was just in the winter, and the training was particularly hard, especially when it was windy and difficult. Pu Siwu told the reporter of China Gong Network. However, learning in this environment also has two advantages, one is that the weather is cold, the drone battery is good at heat dissipation, it is not easy to be hot, so that the practice time can be slightly extended; the other is that the drone flies in strong winds, just like the car slipping on the ice and snow road, rocking left and right, difficult to control. At this time, it is necessary for the drone flight controller to constantly adjust the remote control in his hand, and finally practice the unique skill of making the drone wind and rain not move.

Because of his excellent grades, Pu Siwu stayed on to teach at the school after his studies. On average, he can bring more than 200 trainees a year. In addition to teaching, Pu Siwu also participated in many UAV flight missions, such as aerial photography of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics promotional film, aerial photography of the construction of the Sanbei Protective Forest Saihanba Mechanical Forest Farm, three-dimensional modeling aerial photography of the reconstruction of Zhengzhou in 2021, as well as epidemic prevention and elimination, personnel search and rescue, etc. This search and rescue is his fifth search and rescue mission in a year.

Today, drones are emerging in different industries with efficient and convenient features. For example, the plant protection UAV can spray 200 acres of pesticides in 1 hour. When disinfectant is loaded, disinfection operations in high-risk areas can stop the spread of the epidemic both efficiently and "zero contact". In addition, UAVs have also played an important role in security inspection, power inspection, logistics and distribution, lighting temperature measurement and so on.

"A small drone flight controller can do something practical for the people, and I think it has found unprecedented value in this industry." Drone flight controller Pu Siwu said proudly.
