My all-star vote

My all-star vote

This year, as one of the official invited members of the media, I participated in the All-Star Poll and talked about my voting results here.

Let's start with the voting process.

About the end of the New Year, I received an email from an official NBA official who explained how to vote for this year's NBA All-Star starters: 50% of the fans, 25% of the media and players, the votes all looked the same, and the East and West each chose 2 backcourts and 3 frontcourts. After the vote is over, the players are ranked for each voting type, and then the final ranking of the players is calculated according to the weight, which is the final All-Star starting list. If there are two players with duplicate rankings, the fan vote shall prevail. The NBA will finally publish the rankings of various types of votes, but it will not publish the voting results of each media. The letter ended with a question asking if you would like to vote as a member of the media.

I emailed to confirm that I would like to participate. About three days later, I received an email from Ernst & Young. To ensure that the whole process is fair and impartial, the media voting is run by Ernst & Young, and I suspect that other types of voting should also be operated by EY. The email has a polling link and states that the voting deadline is January 22.

Let's talk about my vote.

I've said before about my All-Star voting guidelines, which are simply repeated here. I pay more attention to data, especially high-level data, in addition to the data to be good, I will add two additional conditions this year. First of all, this is only my personal standard, and there is no official guidance.

The so-called All-Star, that must be the star first, I give priority to the number one star on the team, at least the 2 in the team, unless there are very few cases. From this point of view, Lavin, Middleton, Holliday, Ayton and others are a bit of a loss. In addition, the star's playing time is also very important, if the playing time is too small, I will not consider, Irving, Adebayor and others are among them. Finally, priority is given to personal high-level data, if two people are similar, it is inclined to the team's good performance.

Let's start with the best option: the East's frontcourt.

The three people in the East's frontcourt are Alphabet Brother, Durant and Embiid. These three people, I don't accept any rebuttal, if someone proposes other candidates, I will simply and rudely say, you don't understand the ball.

Durant is the first in the scoring list, and it is very efficient, the team has a top three in the East; Alphabet Brother is the top of the league at both ends of the attack and defense, and currently regains the first place in MVP; Embiid has completely performed at the MVP level in the past few weeks, with the 76ers winning 8-2 in the past 10 games, Embiid has played 30+ consecutive games, and in the absence of Simmons, the single core led the team into the top five in the East.

Sabonis, Butler, Tatum, Allen, everyone can say why they can be an All-Star, but no matter what you say, they all feel that the gap with the above three is obvious.

Here's the second best pick, the Backcourt of the West. The Western Guard will definitely have Curry, the second pick, I considered Mitchell, Doncic, Morant, Booker, Paul.

Curry has played at the MVP level at the beginning of the season, and the last month has been a bit sluggish, but considering Curry's personal results, as well as the Warriors' results this season, Curry will definitely be selected.

Mitchell's personal offensive stats aren't bad, but the Jazz have fallen to fourth, and based on the Jazz's recent performances, I can say that Gobert is more important to the Jazz than Mitchell; Doncic has been in a slump at the beginning of the season, and has been strong in recent games, but the Lone Rangers are among the disappointing teams; Booker and Paul lead the Suns to the top of the West, but Booker has improved in addition to three points, the true shooting rate is the lowest in recent seasons, and he and Paul are between Bo Zhong, sharing their starlight to a certain extent Morant led the Grizzlies to the top four in the West, temporarily in third place, becoming a surprising team. Unlike several other candidates, Morant is the Grizzlies' only All-Star player. After screening, I ended up with Doncic and Morant.

Considering factors such as team performance, teammate configuration, etc., my final choices were Curry and Morant.

Then talk about the West's frontcourt, there will definitely be James and Jokic, and the third person I considered Wiggins, Green, Gobert, Pepper, Downs, Thick Brow.

James is second on the scoring charts, with 30+ in several consecutive games; Jokic once set an all-time high in per pound, and although it has since slipped, it is not considered to be one of the best frontcourts in the league today. Without James and Jokic, the Lakers and Nuggets would be at the level of a rotten team.

Towns' personal data is acceptable, but Downes has been the kind of way that the team does not win with good data for so many years; Gobert has no bright spots except defense; Pepper once led the Clippers to win, but Pepper has declined seriously this season, whether it is overall shooting percentage or three points; Thick Eyebrow personal data is not as good as Downs, and has only played in 27 games. The final choice is to choose between Wiggins and Green, Wiggins has improved sharply in attack and defense this year, and Green has regained his form. If it's important to the team, which is more important, Green or Wiggins? I think it's Green. This is the most subjective vote in my opinion, and if you say anyone else, I won't argue with you.

In the Western Conference frontcourt, my final choice was James, Jokic, Green.

Finally speaking of the Eastern Conference backcourt, no one in this position is definitely selected, I have considered DeRozan, Lavin, Trae Young, Harden, Garant, Van Jordan, three goals, Brown.

Harden's problem is that all kinds of shooting percentages have declined this season, and the overall shooting rate is lower than the league average; Garant's personal data is not bad, the team's performance is not bad, but the Cavaliers' Mobley and Allen's contribution to the Cavaliers' season is also very large; Van Jordan has multiple All-Star performances, the problem is that whether it is personal data and team results, he has no advantage over other candidates; Trae Young's hard injury is the team's performance, and the Eagles belong to the team's disappointing results, but the Eagles attack the top three in the league. Defensively in the bottom three, Trae Young's attack on the Hawks has the feeling of being held up by his own strength; DeRozan and LaVine are teammates, and their contribution to the Bulls is actually very close, but if you want to make a choice between these two people, DeRozan has a slight advantage, especially this season's continuous killing scene, which is also a phenomenon; three goals as a young team leader, there are many highlights, the beginning of the season once scored, rebounded, offense are the first of the team, and now Mitches' score has exceeded three goals, and the rebounds are flat Brown's individual and team results are not as good as Van Jordan's. After some comparison, I first decided that DeRozan should have a seat, and the second person chose one between Trae Young, Garante, and the three goals.

The final two in the Eastern Conference backcourt, my choice was DeRozan and Trae Young. Regarding Trae Young's choice, it is in addition to Green that makes me feel that there is a subjective color in the second.

Here are all my options:

Eastern Conference frontcourt: Embiid, Alphabet Brother, Durant

Eastern Conference backcourt: DeRozan, Trae Young

Western Conference frontcourt: James, Jokic, Green

Western Conference backcourt: Curry, Morant
