In a movie, if there are the keywords of plague, quarantine, survivors, zombies, we can easily think of such a picture: a dead city, a sky full of haze, and a zombie running wild after smelling the smell of the living. In this type of movie, the picture is mostly very bloody, and finally ends with the zombies being destroyed by force.
The "Warm Corpse" I want to talk about today is a film that completely subverts our imagination. The ending of the film is full of poetry: these dead zombies, recalling their own life, they came back to life.

The film opens with a monologue by the male protagonist Zombie R. On the surface, he is no different from the zombies we imagined. He looked gray, hunched over, and slow to move. Beneath such an appearance, he had a heart that longed for change, and although R could not utter a complete and smooth sentence, he would occasionally hoarsely jump out a few words. He forgot a lot and remembered only the first word of his name: R.
R in confusion
R lives alone and dazed in this forgotten world, but he has not completely given up hope. He knew that once he gave up hope, he would become an ugly bone, and then there would be no going back. He had been carefully grasping for everything that would make him feel alive.
R is the marginal group that wanders between humans and the bony skin, and exists difficultally in this gap. Under the pressure of their bones, they have to maintain what a zombie should be: no thoughts, no bloodshed, ruthless, unrepentant. They chose to make their home in an abandoned airport, ready to be redeemed by light and justice.
Marginalized groups: groups that are neglected by society or pay little attention to, and are mainstream (mainstream society, mainstream groups, mainstream ideologies, mainstream culture, mainstream economy...) Excluded, not tolerated groups.
In order to adapt to the overall environment, marginalized people will first experience a period of assimilation and decadence. Later, along with the unexpected vitality of life, they will spare no effort to grasp all the ropes that can pull them out of the mire. This desire to return to mainstream society will inspire them to confront reality and embark on the path of self-redemption. They have experienced ups and downs in the blows of reality again and again, and those who have never given up and always have expectations will eventually be accepted by the mainstream group.
Children who never give up hope

In this film, there are three types of "people". Humans are the embodiment of justice, and they have built walls to defend against the attacks of the infected. Bone skin is a monster that has lost its soul completely, and they will eat all creatures with heartbeats. In the middle of this, there is also a special group of beings - zombies. In order to avoid being wiped out by humans, in order not to be hunted down by the bone skin, in order to "survive", they have to work with the bone skin to hurt innocent lives.
It is a common practice for marginalized people in society to do evil under the pretext of adapting to the living environment. Such a law of survival seems effortless and extremely cost-effective. But one day, when they are so depressed that they can't even breathe, they will walk into an irreversible whirlpool.

R is a zombie eager to communicate, and he is not only content to hum and talk to his zombie friends, he wants to hear voices from living life. During a foraging trip, he ate the brain of Julie's boyfriend Perry and got his memories. It was the only way he could feel life and love.
With Perry's memory, R didn't hurt Julie, and he took Julie back to his house. They listened to his collection of vinyl records together, drove together on the empty runway, and he never gave up looking for a way to get close to the state of human existence.
People on the margins are not desperate to enter normal social circles, they just lack a kind of persistence. This persistence does require some external encouragement, but more importantly, they cannot give up on their own to find a way out.
R who longs for redemption

Julie trusted R, and they held hands with each other, triggering some changes. The zombies' memories were awakened by such a warm picture, and their hearts beat again. With a desire for rebirth, they band together to help R and Julie escape the attack of bone skin.
The final scene of the film is where R and Julie sit side by side on a high place. Under the sun, the walls of separation collapsed, and the whole world changed back to what we were familiar with. All the zombies were reborn, and they walked into the crowd to feel the blood, pain, and love.
Those who live on the margins of society need positive guidance. This path of redemption is destined to be full of thorns, from silently maintaining longing for fate to seeing the dawn and fighting back, and at the moment of making a choice, they must persevere.
