A dancing black-winged sandpiper.
Red Net Moment Yiyang, October 25 (Correspondent Xu Gang) On October 25, at the aquatic grass base of Yiyang Datong Lake Ecological Company, hundreds of black-winged long-legged sandpipers flew in the aquatic grass pond to forage for food, becoming the first migratory birds to winter at Chase Lake.
The black-winged sandpiper is a slender black-and-white wading bird that is nicknamed the "supermodel" of birds because of its large red legs. It generally inhabits river shoals, rice paddies and fish ponds; feeds on small fish, shrimp and insects; breeds in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Liaoning and other places in China; and generally migrates to Guangdong, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other places for wintering in winter. This appearance at Odori Lake may be due to the excellent water quality, mild climate and more bait, and the arrival of "supermodels" adds more vitality to Odori Lake in late autumn.
