Synopsis
Directed and starring a Hong Kong director, "Mission Impossible 2" tells the story of a medical doctor who develops a powerful new virus, "Kimmela", and requests assistance from the CIA to ensure the safety of transportation, but is murdered by Shaun, a former CIA agent disguised as Ethan, and steals the virus information. Ethan is tasked with finding Sean and obtaining information, and before that, Ethan must get help from the goddess to steal Naiya, as Naiya is Sean's ex-girlfriend and the only person to approach Sean. While gaining Naiya's trust, Ethan and Naiya fall in love.
After fabricating false information about Naiya's arrest, Sean rescues Naiya as scheduled and takes her to his residence, but Sean already suspects that Naiya's arrival has other plans. Ethan and Naia finally meet at the racecourse and learn the information, while Sean discovers that Naia has not only been ordered to go undercover, but has also fallen in love with Ethan. The resentful Sean has already guessed that Ethan will go to the drug factory to destroy the virus, so he leads the people to fight, and in the middle of the battle, Naiya injects the remaining virus into his body to help Ethan complete the task, and asks Ethan to kill himself, and Ethan can't bear to do it, and promises to save Naiya.
Sean begins trading virus and antidotes with the drug factory owner, claiming that the virus will soon sweep the world, at which point Ethan arrives, and after a fierce fight, Ethan finally regains the virus and antidote, resulting in Shaun and saving Naiya's life in time.
Film review
Don't look forward to Mission Impossible 2 with the mood of watching Gladiator or Mission Impossible 1. If "Gladiator" carries humanistic significance and "Disc 1" is full of suspense, "Disc 2" is at best a well-packaged entertainment film. Look at it in the hope of being educated and moved, after all, it is only a sequel to a --- with a strong sense of commodity. Peeling away the unsolid foundation, all that remains of "Disc 2" is Tom's idol charm and Wu Yusen's "violent aesthetics". But without the sympathy of the heroes in "Blood And Two Heroes", without the confusion of ethics and life in "Changing Faces", the "violent aesthetics" that lack plot preparation has become a model, and fatigue is fully displayed.
The selling points of the whole movie are all spy movies and fight movies, and Lao Wu just reprocesses and some collage work. Among these selling points of his "tailoring", there are both others and his own. In fact, the essence of the whole "Mission Impossible 2" is all in the two words "transfiguration", it is the charm of "transfiguration" that makes the film plot ups and downs, suspense, it is also "transfiguration" that allows the problem to be resolved, the warrior turns the danger into safety, and it is the "transfiguration technique" in the film that makes the character identity change rapidly, enriching the expression of the film language, and even once reminded people of the martial arts novels of Gu Long, Wen Ruian and others, "Transfiguration" is indeed the biggest feature of this film that is different from the general genre films. Speaking of a thousand ways and ten thousand, "Mission Impossible 2" is a good film, thrilling, and the visual effects are first-class.
"Mission Impossible 2" is still a gorgeous and luxurious fast food blockbuster, although it also invited the writer of the first episode, Robert Downey, to write, but this time the story is obviously less than a cocooning compactness, a suffocating layer of tension, which is somewhat discounted at the root. Ethan Hunt is no longer caught in a puzzle, seeking recognition of identity, revealing the facts, but a straightforward PK opponent, where the suspenseful story tension of the previous episode is lost, and it becomes a simple battle of good and evil, and the innate hard wounds of the story brand this film with hollywood mediocre blockbusters. The popularity of the action of "Mission Impossible 2" cannot hide the poverty of the characters, and the violent philosophy, tragic jianghu, benevolent spirit, and even classic lines in Wu Dao's past works have disappeared in this episode, which makes people infinitely sigh.
