Directed by Hosoda Mori and adapted from Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel of the same name, the film tells the story of the teenage girl Makoto Cyano who accidentally gains the ability to travel through time and space. When the film was released in Japan in 2006, it set a record for a long-term release of more than 8 months, and 2021 is also the 15th anniversary of the film's release. The re-screening is also part of a project to commemorate the 10th anniversary of director Hosoda's animation company Map Studio.
