Italian media: Miami International intends to waive Mertens this summer

According to Mediaset, Miami International of major leagues is interested in waiving Napoli attacker Mertens this summer.

Mertens' contract with Napoli expires this summer and the club has the option to renew his contract for another year. However, Napoli superintendent Giintori said not long ago that the club would only consider the issue in the coming months. In such circumstances, it is not excluded that Mertens will leave the team after this summer's contract expires.

Since joining Napoli from Eindhoven in 2013, Mertens has played 380 games for the team, scoring 143 goals.
