In addition to the usual creation, every year near the National Day and spring festival or some major festive days, Guo Hong will create some works on the theme, while setting off the festive atmosphere, carry forward the main theme and spread positive energy. The Year of the Tiger is approaching, and she plans to create 100 works on the tiger theme of the Chinese zodiac this year to welcome the arrival of the Year of the Tiger.
The 56-year-old Guo Hong is the municipal inheritor of "Caozhou Paper-cutting" in Heze City, she has been learning embroidery and paper-cutting with her grandmother and grandmother since she was a child, under their influence, the young Guo Hong found a needle and thread cloth to learn embroidery, whether it is a character image, or a flower, bird, insect and fish, she has embroidered into the wood three points, and has been insisting. Guo Hong said that paper-cutting is the basic art of embroidery, and some embroidery works need to be cut into patterns first, and then embroidered according to the pattern. When cutting paper, she integrates her love, praise and wishes for life into it, and her works are vivid, exaggerated and lively, keeping up with the pace of the times. One after another excellent paper-cut works such as "Qingming On the River Map", "Heart To Wenchuan", "Caring for Yushu", "Love Boat Song" and so on have won many awards in provinces and cities. She has also been rated as "Shandong Provincial Folk Handicraft Master" by the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Culture.
Guo Hong said that Caozhou paper-cutting contains a long history and culture, simple, natural and beautiful, mostly used to decorate people's lives and festivals. It includes different types of monochrome, lining color, dyeing, chromatic, three-dimensional chromatic paper-cutting, etc., which have both the charm of ancient and traditional paper-cutting and the characteristics of the new era. At present, with Heze Peony District as the center, it is distributed in all counties and districts of the city, cities in the province, as well as Beijing, Zhejiang, Heilongjiang and other provinces and cities, and has been widely recognized and praised nationwide.
In recent years, in order to pass on some complex skills, Guo Hong has taught skills to paper-cutting enthusiasts free of charge, and she has been invited by some primary and secondary schools in various counties and districts of the city to open paper-cutting handicraft classes.
